swaping gimbals/sofware only

Post by MadScientist »

I have a mode 2 controller. I want the throttle to be return to center, so it should be on the right side. Can i just change the mode to 3 in the software, and it will swap the left stick operations to the right side and vice versa? I tried it in the sim, but nothing changed. figured there was something i was missing.

Having selected a mode, and programmed some mixes, on er9x, these are tied to the physical sticks. If you change the mode, you should see the mix source names have changed.
If you apply a template, it will use the new mode.

Erazz started on a version on er9x that dynamically changed the mixes when the mode changed, but dropped out of development before completing it. I haven't had time to look into that myself.

Either that, or, make a note of your current mix sources (screen dump of mixer list?), change the mode, then just edit the mixes so the sources are back to the noted values. They will now be on the revised stick positions.

srry for the long wait between replies. my computer went hay wire on me.

i started re-mapping everything, but for some reason, when you copy and paste the mix'es, it changes the switch. ONLY the top switch selection in the mix setup window. Im not sure why it does this. It seems to sim out fine though, and the channels move just as they did before.

Hopefully ill get my battery tommorrow so i can load these up and try them.

Is there anything else i need to be aware of that you can think of?

thanks for the help

Please can you describe exactly what you did (in eepe I assume) when the switches changed. I can't re-produce it when I copy/paste mixes.

I opened and down loaded the lastest version of Eepe and er9x-noht. i opened up the first window of eepe and the first (old mix) then when i opened the new mix, it opened in a new window. I just right clicked copy on the old, and pasted on the new.

for example

channel 3 - * 100 THR (no trim) curve 14

became

channel 3 - * 100 RUD (no trim) curve 14

the only difference being the thr/rud.... im not sure why that happened but manually changing them back fixed it. (that was the only seting that changed)

and im not sure what the SD button is.?

Right, I think this is the same problem with the two windows having different modes. The mix, as copied, is tied to the physical stick, so with a different mode, the name changes (it's the name of the stick, not a switch).
I'll look into this when time permits, just have to be very careful not to upset existing models, mpartly why I haven't looked into it before.

its not big deal. Just weird. it seems to me the channels are tied to the stick for some reason. it thinks channel 3 is throttle on mode 2 , but rud on mode 3. thats seems odd to me. i would think that you should be able to mix the channels however you want, and then apply them to a particular stick after u are done mixing. regardless of mode.

The code has been as it is for a long time, I haven't looked that closely at it. Clearly, it might be better but only if I can change it without making all/most users reprogram all their models!

i dont think you would need to reprogram. just simple add a selection menu in which you determine which axis of which stick does what

The real clever solution is to forget about modes altogether.

Instead of the stick input being called RUD, call then things like LS-X, RS-Y

Then mode is no longer an issue :-)

Of course.. that might make moving models between modes a but irritating.
