Sorry Scott, OCD???
As for the mod, no problem in making a tutorial, but it was quite simple.
The screen mask and labels were made in illustrator and them had them printed in vinyl and cut. The labels were printed in adhesive vinyl and sticked in the proper place. The screen mask and the sky9x logo on top, had to be printed in mirror mode because they were applied on the inside. For that I had to clean the old ones from the plastic and I used acetone.
The case was painted in white matte. First applied a plastic primer, and then some coats of paint. To finish, and to had some extra protection, I applied some matte varnish.
If you guys want I can post here the illustrator files, or I can custom them for your needs, and upload the eps file.
The labels are exactly the same as the original 9x. The only difference is the color and some minor tweaks in the layout. But if you use the switches for some specific function, it's possible to rename it. However I have something different. I installed the sky9x board and a frsky dht module, and made a custom label for it. I'll show some more details latter.
The screen mask I made it to my liking. Added the 9x logo, and some more, like the bluetooth, the usb and the micro sd logos.

I'll post them later, when I get home.

Lots of truth to that. The original White tx I had got ruined last summer when I (flying electric) used one of the purple smoke cartridges that's triggered from the Tx from Goodbuy.com. Plane landed - carried back to pits, without noticing I got purple residue all over my hands from the plane. Purple was pernicious c**p, got all over in a hurry including all over my Tx and permantly stained it. Some kind of Dye that got everwhere on the plane. Last time I mounted the smoke under the Fuse -- now I have it on the wings. But the TX was purple stained and had to be repainted.

NSF -- ya.. more info. I really like that. BTW: OCD = Obsessive Compulsive Disorder -- which is my way of saying you did a fantastic job with attention to detail that's borders on crazy (but I admire it) :D

Here are pictures of my latest Tx. :geek: Painted using Dip marble technique. Added: Smartieparts 2.2 - EZtelemetry - HK green backlight modified, Futaba HD springs, Open9x, FrSKY DJT - but stock Atmega64 PCB. (The .rar files are same pictures in full resolution)

The custom label for the frsky telemetry (Only saw the typo when I was gluing the label)

The bind button and led

Back of the tx (I think I'll do a custom sticker for the module case too  )

I don't have the files here, promise I will post them tomorrow with all corrected

Wow! The attention to detail is fantastic. I did a Google search for "ink jet printable vinyl" and found several sources. Looks like good stuff for aircraft decals too.

Thanks guys. I had the vinyl printed and cut in a firm that does windows decoration for shops.
I could have printed at home but had no way to cut it perfectly. So I handed the vector file and they printed the vinyl and cut it in a cutter plotter.
Working in the correction of the labels. I will post them in a while.
One thing I forgot to mention. The labels for the switches were printed in a white vinyl and then I added a transparent one over the top to give some protection to the printing.
I chose a glossy one, but should have gone with matte.
The lcd mask and the sky9x logo were printed in mirror mode because they were applied on the back of the plastic. So they had to be printed in a transparent vinyl (because of the glue), then I added a white one, so the colors would stand out more, and have the white for the letters.

Any suggestion for this.
I don't want to make money out of this. Just want to help.
But I could do that, just don't know if it's worth it. I think it would be very expensive for such a small thing. Those little stickers costed 12 euros to print and cut. I little expensive if you ask me but... If added shiping costs to that...
I think most of the guys interested in this could get it done cheaper.

Anyway, I'm open to that. No problem for me, and I can even custom the labels and screen to anyone likings.

12 euros? yikes, yeah that's pretty pricey,
Can you post the Adobe file? or postscript, or whichever you use , so those who want can do their own?

Almost done leo. Just correcting some minor things.
It´s taking a little bit longer because I'm working and doing this at the same time.
I will post an illustrator and an eps file. To get them cut in a plotter, those are the best formats.

SVG files I find are more reliable. But that's just me. (only two versions, compressed or non compressed, works cross platform in any version of any software) :)

What do you mean?
If you are refering to the round parte on the side of the navigation buttons and the other part on the menu and exit buttons, I made it that way on purpose. I think it´s better to glue it on the plastic and them trim the excess vinyl with an x-acto knife or a pair of scissors. It's not easy to align it on the exact place because of the missing part in the center. If I made it exactly as the stock one there would be no margin for error when gluing.

Nice labels.
How durable those labels and the glue on the back are? I always have a problem withe the label right above the sticks, because that is where I finger holding the Tx rest. the stock protective film just wrinkles up then the printing get messed up after a while.

Well, I'm able to directly read the eps file using Photoshop. But it is only 72dpi, so the image is grainy and not worthy of using. I found an online program that could covert the eps to jpg, but the converted file was also only 72dpi. I suspect the other formats are higher resolution, but I cannot read them.

-------------
BTW, I need a new front plastic LCD overlay (lens) panel for my 9x, so the timing is perfect to add your new graphics. I searched for a replacement that I could buy and my effort was an epic fail. So I will try to make my own clear lens and do my best to dress it up with your graphics.
