Please check that resistor on the PPM circuit. it looks that is touching the other pin on the 12 pin connector..

Nope is not. We already talked about it when I did the mod (I year ago? Its on the ppm mod thread) is definitely not shorting there, juwtthe angle. Tomorrow I can take another pic so you will see there are some room between pins. Also I used the radio like that since then and no problem.

I just can't think of what could have damaged those tracks. it just doesn't make sense.. for sure you shorted something.. But if the board is powering up, then those tracks are not preventing it from functioning. If nothing else is fried, then it should have nothing to do with the gimbals not working..
IO could be wrong though, as i don't have the board in front of me..

The track you marked in blue is the charging connection, the yellow one just connects the battery supply to the pin on the expansion connector.
Neither, being broken, should prevent the board form operating normally, just the charging won't work, and if you are not using the battery connection to the expansion connector than that doesn't matter at all.

Well, I guess only God knows what I did wrong...

Thanks for the help, guys. Today I am going to try installing the 9xtreme in the new radio to see if the stock gimbals works, if I can flash the firmware and so on. If it works, then I will install the three pos switches. I'll go step by step for tying to locate the problem.

Anyway I will take the board to that repairing place next month. I never charged it through the battery supply (is it possible to charge a lifepo battery through that port?) but the battery port at the expansion port is important due to I want to install the internal module...

No it isn't actually! For the internal module you us the "In_Pwr" connection. THis is a software switched power supply for the internal module so it may be powered off when not in use.

News here, I installed the 9xtreme in the new radio, and I have been able to flash the newest firmware (ersky9xProvR221f3.zip) I calibrated the original gimbals and it works, Ill try to, slowly, install the rest of the things, (3 pos switches, 6 pos switches) and I will leave the PPM and reverse polarity resistors to the experienced guys that will try to repair my 9xtreme.

I think I'll be able to save the old radio too, so I am going to buy a smartieparts programmer for that radio.

Some more news here...

In the new radio:
Reverse polarity protection diode, installed.
Module protection resistor, installed.
four 2pos switches with 4 3pos switches, replaced.
Potentiometer with a 6 position switch, replaced.
Taranis gimbals, installed (and working!) I have no idea what happened with the old radio... But at the other hand I did not know they dont fit perfectly, I cant reach the corners very well so I might need to replace the taranis sticks too. Do you know any stick that fits?
9xtreme installed. I was never going to charge the radio trough the carging port due to I use lifepo batteries and need balancing, and also the expansion connector wont be used, so no problem there neither...

So the last step is going to install the internal module (already flashed) and then I can forget about this... What a pain, lol. Yeah, I could just have bought a new taranis, but what the hell, the 9x looks cooler and I love the RGB screen!

Its a pity there wont be more advanced smartiepart boards...

You have to admit, you had fun personalizing your radio, right? :) There is no other like it
Yeah, on my radios the taranis gimbals do hit the front of the radio when at the corners.
I don't think that is a show stopper though. Is the price we pay for better gimbals I would say ;)

Yes, I had fun, in fact I love experimenting and doing my own stuff, lol, but I had some frustration too... But I think it is worth the pain... For some reason I love the 9x, and I feel sad after seeing that the end is comming closer... Or well, I guess is coming due to it seems the AR9x board is no longer produced, and the 9xtreme neither... And in my hobby area (Tanks) I see people buying the 9xr pro, the taranis q7 or the Flysky i10 but I think I'll stick with my 9x until the end of the days arrives.

Anyway I'd like to stick with the ersky software. I am not an expert in RC and I dont have a lot of experience, but it seems that with my radio I can do more things than a lot of people with way way more expensive radios can't... Do definitely it means that you, guys, are doing a really great job. :)

Shame that the Ar9x and 9xtreme boards are gone, but i have the feeling that others will come. The 9x radio is not dead. With the right mods is still the best radio around. I have 5 9x radios, all with different boards, and they all are the best. i had taranins and horus in my hands, and i gotta say I wouldn't swap my 9x radios for any of them.. But my 9x have all mods allowed by ersky9x. :)
