Turnigy 9X 9Ch / 16 channels?

hello,
can you tell me whether the Turnigy 9X 9Ch works with 16 channels or not.
Meanwhile, I have a wide variety of information from the German forums. But either it does not work or I can’t make it work. My English is not good.

I hereby try:
Turnigy 9x 9Ch Transmitter
open TX-r2940
Turnigy RF9X-V2 module
6 piece Turnigy 9X8C-V2 8-channel receiver

Can I then work with 16 channels? If so, what should I do, that it works. Or should I replace the module. What can I take, I would like to keep the old receiver. I need 16 channels for only 2 ships, for the rest less than 8 would be enough.
Thanks and greeting
Dirk

The stock module can't transmit more than 8 channels.
One way is to add a second module connected to the trainer port, might be the most appropriate for your situation.

Another is to use an FrSky XJT which will transmit up to 12 or 16 channels depending on the operation mode, but then none of your current receivers will be useable.

I am not sure about openTX, it has been a while since I last used it, but with er9x you can connect another 8 channel RF Module to the trainer port.. You will have to select "PPM16" as protocol. The radio will then send channels 9 to 16 on the trainer port. Then you bind one receiver to the normal module that is in the module bay, and another receiver to the module connected to the trainer port..

EDIT: Kilrah was faster than me and confirmed that it also works in openTX

Hello Reinhard,
how and where do I connect to?
In addition to the existing module?

As said above, using it as the second rf module via the trainer port. And the pin layout is well known, as it is already used in the primary RF module.
I would remove the Pcb and place it somewhere in the radio housing.

I've read through this thread and it is something that I would like to do soon, but has someone made a schematic on how to wire it all up?

Hi guys. I have replaced the original RF unit with a djt module and a new compatible receiver on my 9X radio. This gives me 8 channels. Is there anyway the I can use the original RF module and the stock receiver so I can add a few more channels to my 9x radio?

Not on the original 9X, it can only support a single module.
All I can suggest is a XJT module, as that supports 16 channels to either 2 'X' receivers, or a single 'X' receiver using the SBUS output for the extra channels.

OpenTX allowed connecting a 2nd module to the trainer port and sending upper channels to it. I think it was the "PPM16" choice.

I forgot that, PPM16 is in er9x as well (I wrote it!).

So considering the fact that my radio uses er9x firmare it is doable with 2 RF units. How would I go about connecting them? Is there a how to somewhere?

You would need to connect the trainer jack socket (ground and signal) to the ground and signal of the second module, and provide power to the second module somehow.
