1K ResistorTrainer mod to Tx Module at back

Post by Westy »

Hey Guys....

i did this mod ages ago ...

here is a quick you tube slide and voice over vid of it ....

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w8mQOYm02I4

Does effect the ability to bind with receivers? I have 2 bound to the Tx and got a V2 HK 6 channel RX and it will not bind .... just flashes....

Cheers,
Westy

Should not affect binding at all. You can bind without any ppm signal.
Is the 6ch with single or double antenna ? also did you open the RX and check the soldering on the antenna, they are know for bad soldering on them. If there is a short on the antenna it will most probably not bind unless it is right next to the TX

I have pulled the RX apart and looking at it through a jewlers monocle it looks like the 2 resistors next to the occillating crystal are pointed together instead of being parralell and I am unable to more them as my soldering is way to big .....hey are only 2mm SMD's.....

Gutted ..... I should have tried to test it as soon as I got it .... but was having more fun with my heli and ER9x to muck about with it.

Hey while we are on the subject of binding..... when you put on an ESC cable and a bind cable ..... which voltage does it need to supply the power?

I tested the plug and one is earth .... the next is 5V the outer one is 7v.....

I have a power supply that has 12 and 5VDC ... .can I use the 5V off the power supply to bind in future?

I managed to get a photo through the monocle..... that came out pretty good....
Image

Would this cause the problem..?????

thanks,
Westy

Yes looks like it, i will check on one of mine how it should be, looks like a resistor and a cap. If you are in Europe I am prepared to fix it for you, if elsewhere check the forum for a list off people willing to help. From the phone I don't know how to link, but I'm sure someone will shortly :D

hmmm..... wonder why it will not bind then......?

my Genuine Turnigy (if you can ever call them genuine) 8ch V2 Rx ... x 2 of them ... binded fine....... this onewill just not stop flashing.

you plug the bind lop into the bat and the ESC ch 3 servo cable to channel 3 right?

Can you help me to test it to find the source of the fault? I do not have an occilliscope though .....

have multimeter.....

some receivers have the bind and power label swapped.. bind is power and vice-versa.. don't know if it is the case. but that happens with the flysky/turnigy 8ch receiver

I tried it both ways. The Red light only flashes when the red is to the label...

Arial looks good ... nice solder joints and no dry joints.
I will try something else though. i think I been stuffing the binding process up....

Will confirm in the morning but I have been doing it like a normal model start up .

1. turn on TX
2. Turn on RX
3. Hold Bind.

I will try tomorrow
1. Turn on RX
2. Hold Bind on TX
3. While doing 2 .... turn on TX

Hope that fixes it

Pretty embarrassing really.... if it does work! ... but we all live and learn.

Well must off and sim it on PhoenixRC

the second procedure it the right way, power on RX with bind, 1st press bind, then turn on TX

About the swapped bind and batt labels, on both 6ch and 8ch the bind goes into the Batt connection for bind to work on the stock modules. If you have a flashing LED you Should be in bind mode. Flashing should stop when you turn on tx with bind button pressed. Then turn off RX, then TX and binding is done.
