ISP Programmer with Bluetooth

Post by Promix »

Hi all,
this is my latest mod to program my radio without using usb connection cable. Very handy with eeprom files !
Works great with Companion9x and 9Xplorer - it`s like magic ;)

Done with Bluecontroller.

Nice, no hole needs to be drilled on Tx. you can use that to flash FW as well I assume? more can it be used to transmit telemetry data?

Yes, telemetry should work for sure. This is my next step but I have to do the Frsky mod first.

FW update works like a charm :)

You mean, you have the programming ability via Bluetooth on your Radio...
That is brilliant..
Is it always on? do you disable it?
And yes, with telemetry, how close are you to getting there?

Good stuff !

I notice that the max input in 9v, 5 v typical with 70ma max current. Are you using a 5v pre regulator between the board and tx pack?

What is the exact part number please?

Do you use the onboard antenna and if so do you have to solder the jumper or does it come ready to install?

Do you need to purchase the Bluetooth computer dongle separately? I didn't see one listed. If so will any one work, I use windows XP and W7 (64 bit).

Does it power down when not on use or do you have a switch?

I have several sky boards, ver B and C.
I like the idea of BT on them for sure.
Certainly his would be great for the X9D if it lives up to the hype! No more cables, just my XP netbook with BT already. I like it.
Please keep the progress up to date.

Really nice. Please share the code and some documentation.
I suppose you kind of based that on some serial ISP implementation that runs on AVR just taking the RFCOM stream instead of rs232?

I did actually think of something similar, but much more wasteful. Use a serial AVR ISP and hook it up to a bluetooth serial extender. No idea if that would be stale enough though.

I went a bit further down the rabbit hole. This seems to be what he used.

I am also interested in more implementation details ... Wireless is great for editing and programming from the PC.

Yes, that is exactly what I am using. I don`t use the bootloader yet, only the ISP program.
After flashing there is to move a little bridge between two pins on the board. That`s all.
USB setting is: 19200 8N1
There is another version from Michael which supports a speed of 115200. Never tried yet.

I`m now heavy involved to the openXvario stuff for a while, so I will come up with more details later. ;)
