What to choose in 2021

Hello.

I've been away for a while in this hobby, and now I was thinking of picking it up again.

I have 3 9x radios, one with upgraded chip aswell thanks to jhsa. One is fixed after a reverse polarity, as is why I found this great forum. And the last is in pieces for custom paint and stuff. All is modded for custom fw. All is backlit and all is now life powered. But I've always used the original modules, since they work. Now I got self a pixhawk and I find the opportunity to do my first module mod. So now the question is, what to choose? There is literally hundreds of ways to go.. what does the genius on this board recommend?

I want telemetry on battery.. I'm interested in modding anything I can, the cost vs what I can buy (read: taranis) does not matter.. i like the 9x and I want to stick to it for now.
