AVRDUDE error

I dbl click on the ER9X file in the EEPROM editor
then click yes in the "Write er9x .hex to flash memory
This msg comes in the AVRDUDE scrn

avrdude.exe: error : could not find USB device "USBasp" with vid=0x16c0 pid=0x5dc

Then an error box with "AVRDUDE did not finish correctly" appears.
In Device manager I cannot get the comp to recognize the AVRasp device, is this what eePe is supposed to do ????????
Any ideas what this all means.
I have got the Smartieparts V2.1 board inserted

Looks like you haven't installed the driver for your board.

I have installed the driver from Smartieparts and when I select Wrtite to TX a blank white box opens in the eePe screen and nothing happens

Can you please try to unplug and then replug again your USB programmer?
