Removing Glued RC Truck Tires from there failed PLA+ Printed Rims
Items needed
1) Suitable Plastic Container with Cover.
2) Acetone, about 1 gallon.
3) A Metal Weight, big enough to keep RC Wheel submerge.
4) Rubber Gloves
5) Face-Mask
Note: Best Not to do this inside your home, so select a Safe Place.
Do this in a safe area where children and other people will not have access or have unsupervised access.
A well ventilated place is best also.
Procedure
1) Pour enough Acetone into Plastic Container to cover the RC Wheel.
2) Place RC Wheel inside of Plastic Container.
3) Place the Metal Weight on top of the RC Wheel so that the RC Wheel is submerged.
4) If needed add more Acetone and note: the inside of the wheel, in time, should fill with Acetone,
so you will want to have enough Acetone in the Plastic Container for this.
5) Cover the Plastic Container for about 36 hours in a safe place.
6) After about 36 hours check the progress and note: the tire may have swelled up, this is OK,
but be careful not to pull very hard on the rubber tire as it can tear very easily after it has soaked up the Acetone.
7) Pushing on the sidewall where the tire is Glued, this may properly separate to two surfaces.
8) If not all the Glued places separate fairly easily, then soak the RC Wheel for several more hours.
9) When all the glued places have separate, remove the inside Rim from the Tire.
10) Remove the Foam from the inside of the Tire and squeeze the Acetone back into the Plastic Container.
11) You will need to place the Rim, Tire and Foam where they can set for about 12 hours or more
until the Acetone has evaporated from these parts.
Note: The Tire will return to it's normal self and size when the Acetone has gone.
12) Repeat this process for each of your RC Wheels.
