Calibrate Extruder Estep Value (CR10s 3D Printer)

Post by bob195558 » Tue Feb 04, 2020 12:19 am

Every 3D Printer has it own unique value settings.
So this is one of the important process's you should do for your 3D Printer, so it will be able to perform properly.

This youtube video will be a help in guiding you through the process of calculating for your Extruder Estep Value:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lWBkPIXTOlo

This is what I did in calculating for my proper Extruder Estep Value.

1) Mark three places on the filament at 100mm and then 10mm and then at 10mm again so to equal 120mm of length.

2) Heat Hotend up to 215 degrees (PLA filament).
Go to: Temperature / Nozzle and turn knob to adjust Nozzle temp.

3) Extruder 100mm of filament when nozzle is up to temp.
Go to: Motion / Move Axis / Extruder
and select .1mm (rate of motion) for when extruding the 100mm.

4) Next measure from the last 120mm mark back to where the filament disappears
and write down this value.

5) The value I had was 12.6mm.
Next I subtract 12.6mm from 120mm which equals 107.4mm.
This value indicates the Estep Value for 100mm of filament being extruded.

6) Next multiply 100 X 463 which equals 46300.
Note: for my upgraded CR10s printer with the TH3D Titan Tough Extruder the default Estep Value is 463.

7) Next divide 46300 by 107.4 which equals 431.
This is my new proper Extruder Estep Value of 431 to extrude 100mm of extruded filament.

8) Next go to: Configuration / Advanced settings / Steps/mm / ESteps/mm:
to change my Estep Value to 431.

9) Next go to "Store settings" to save the new proper Estep Value.
