Post by Crusader »

I have lost haptic feed back on my 9Xtreme board...
what output should I see at pin 12 on the expansion posts.

Neil

I believe you should see about 3.3V when haptic is ON.
How did you connect the motors to the board?
Also did you check in Radio Setup/AudioHaptic if you didn't change any setting?

I followed, pretty much, your tutorial. I added some extra plugs for modular connections.
I had it working with some smaller motors than the ones you used, but wasn't happy with the force produced.
'I put in the 4 push buttons and replaced the the motors. then things no longer worked.

I have 5.1v before the diodes and and 4.5 after.
I had a broken wire so I fixed that, I took out the extra plugs and soldered to the vero board driver I made.
I just do not see any voltage at pin 12?? which is why I asked about the signal.

the motors work if I put 3v across them (off the board) I did change the haptic strength to 5 but that is all for the haptic.

I turned the idle time out down to 1m to try and test the new motors and got nothing.
is there any other way to test it via the software?

cheers
Neil

Sorry, how rude of me, thank you for your response it is very helpful. I'll do some more testing tomorrow.

what diodes did you use? the 1n4001 I use should give you around 1.4V voltage drop if you use 2 of them. so what diodes and how many did you use?
Also what transistor? Also did you put the protection diodes near each motor? They are there to proterct the transistor..

these are the rectifier diodes I used
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131625882853 ... EBIDX%3AIT
yes, I used two of them in series (I have enough to replace them)

Signal diodes I used.
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/131587557222 ... EBIDX%3AIT
they are up at the motors

Transistor used..
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321421515492 ... EBIDX%3AIT
I haven't checked it yet.

but I do not see the 3.3v at pin 12 when i expect the Haptic to come on. but i will do more checking today.

Regards,
Neil

I might replace the transistor and see what happens...

Replaced the transistor, tested the ciruit on an external psu and it functions correctly. Attached it to the radio and nothing :( i'm pretty sure i have the software setup for it. But i will check again. :(

Hmm, weird.. Do you remember what did you do just before the haptic stopped working?

With the power OFF, can you measure the resistance between pin 12 and 13?

I do not get a resistance reading across the pins..
I really do not know? changed out the motors?

attached is the haptic screen, should it vibrate on an idle time out?

thanks for your help by the way, much appreciated..
I do know a little about electronics, but it always helps to have a second set of thoughts.

Cheers,
Neil

Go to Model Setup / Voice and program some haptic on a switch.

Select the switch, set the Trigger to something like 3 or 4 seconds, and then highlight "Haptic" and select one of the options..

Now, if you turn the switch ON the radio should vibrate, if all was ok of course..

Thank you so much for that info. I wasn't sure on how to do that.
I tested it that way, and it now works. Thanks for your help.

Great :) I was getting worried about the processor pin.
The haptic should also work when the trims pass the center. Please go to er9x.com and download the er9x manual. Er9x is a lighter version of Ersky9x but the basics are the same.
At ths bottom of my post here you find 2 links. The first one takes you to some videos I have made about ersky9x and er9x. You might find some of them useful. There are some about voice as well, but for er9x. It can't use named files like ersky9x, only numbered files but all the rest is the same..

thank you again for your help, I did have a couple of issues.

a broken 5v connector
a dud motor
and I replaced the transistor (was not sure about its integrity).
so I have simplified the installation and cables and it works fine.

I will do some reading as you suggest.

Cheers,
Neil
