Gibberish on screen

Post by orejass »

Hello,

So today finishing a build i was proceeding to configuring the model on my 9xtreme.
All was going well untill suddenly the screen just starts outputting weird symbols and everything goes odd.
Rebooted and the radio still shows the gibberish on screen.

I cant navigate the menus at all and it doesn't send channels through to any of the receivers.
Oddly enough, receivers bind and go into fail-safe if i shut off the radio, which takes me to believe the DJT module is okay.

I was never able to fix my previous issue where the radio was reporting extremely low signals from the FrSky module, never found out what it was.

Video of the issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oefZ97t5ar0

Any ideas?
I'll try reflashing but i doubt that will help.
:?

**UPDATE**

re-flashed fw and the radio boot with no gibberish on screen.

Now what happens is that the screen shows YAW reveresed: yaw right, screen shows stick going left; same the other way yet my models register the correct yaw direction.

Clues?

Is the trim going in the opposite direction of the stick? I mean, the trim is correct but the stick not?

Also go to Radio Setup/DiagAna menu and check that stick.. It should -100 when fully left and 100 when fully right.
Also please let us know know which mode you fly..

I'm mode 2

DiagAna shows 100 when yaw stick is full left, -100 when full right.

Hold the left horizontal trim to the left for a second while turning your radio ON. This enables the hardware menu. Now go to Radio Setup/Hardware and scroll down to the stick reverse option.. it displays some graphics representing each stick. Check if the left horizontal stick is highlighter. If so, keep pressing left until none is highlighted.
When a stick is highlighted it means it is reversed.

If it is not highlighted, then of course keep pressing right until only that stick is highlighted ;)

And of course I would probably know that if I read the whole ERSky manual... :D

All is normal now (at least with the stick reversal).

Thanks João!

(if you have any pointers on my low-signal issue, that would be great)

Low signal on frsky gear normally is due to a bad or broken antenna.. you can find that out by replacing the existing antenna with a new one.

Also, did you operate the frsky module without antenna? Do not do this as it can damage the module, and reduce its range..

Yeah, I've tried about 4 different antennas and I have the same issue.

I'm aware of operating tx equipment without an antenna but mine came DOA (i assume). Seller did not want to replace anything...

I think I'll just buy another module, there is an offer on the XJT half price right now, so ill go for it.

Thanks!
