Your not hi-jacking. Are you starting the transmitter up with the left horizontal trim (rudder trim mode 2) button held to the left when starting up the tx?

UPDATE - just realized your using a Taranis this is for the 9x with the 9xtreme add-on board. Your still not hijacking, just trying to.

And I think you are using openTX not ersky9x. I think it is possible to reverse sticks on openTx for the 9x radios. But is it possible on Taranis? :o
It is the first time someone replaces the taranis gimbals. Normally we replace our radio's gimbals with taranis gimbals :D

Flash Firmware to erSky9x on Taranis and then go to Radio Setup / Controls and then you can change it there.

Doesn't Ersky9x for taranis have an Hardware menu? The stick reverse should be hidden really. I have just helped someone by email with a 9XR-PRO that had one stick reversed. He had the stock firmware that I thing didn't have the Hardware menu??

I have not updated my erSky9x-x9d Taranis firmware from last year, I should do that.
I still have an old test version of the erSky9x on Taranis firmware, which allows the Telemetry
to be change to work with the external module DJT or XJT.
So I think the newest firmware will have the Hardware menu.

There is a hardware menu, but no option to reverse the stick. In fact quite funny that the option is to type a name or symbol that I am not sure what it is for.

Bob,

Just to be sure , I have an original Taranis that I am trying to reverse the gimbal stick for alieron and rudder , as I upgrade it with Jeti gimbal.

The solution is :
1) backup my taranis firmware and model
2) Flash Firmware to erSky9x on Taranis and then go to Radio Setup / Controls and then you can change it there.
3) go to hardware menu and reverse stick on rudder and aileron
4) flash the firmware back to Taranis 2.1.7
5) restore all my model

Is this the recommendation ?

Unfortunately that won't work. The revers setting is stored in the EEPROM for ersky9x. As soon as you put openTx back on it will re-format the EEPROM and completely lose the ersky9x setting.

Mike,

As you said, I did it and it work in "EEPROM for ersky9x" , once I revert back to OpenTX frmware...all is gone.
Any suggestion how I can resolve this ?

Much appreciated for all the help you have provided that got me to where I am. Very close.

There is currently no function to reverse gimbals in OpenTX for Taranis as like Joao said there has never been a need for it. It would need to be coded, or the firmware customised for your setup.

Kilrah,
That is what I suspected...How do I begin to customize the firmware ?
Thanks again for all the help you have provided in the multiplex MLINK on Taranis (which is working great ) and now on this effort to get me mine "great" Taranis with good hardware that is still light weight.

Just invert the sign on the required inputs and build, the sticks are the first 4.

Kilrah,

1) I have got the environment installed "https://github.com/opentx/opentx/wiki/O ... structions"

2) I make the changes on the adc_driver.cpp to try to reverse the stick direction

3) I did use the "make PCB=TARANIS" to create an opentx.bin, upload the firmware to the taranis through companion.
=> results : after upload firmware...but turning on power got blank screen and nothing happen. I need to take out battery and put back to cold boot and go to bootloader to refresh with the original firmware.

Questions :
i) Do I use "make PCB=TARANIS" or "make" to create the firmware ?
ii) What do I need to do to get the same 2.1.7 release firmware but with the stick change

One again thanks for assisting.

regards,
Jonathan

why not leave ersky9x firmware installed. Doesn't it have more functionality? It appears it has more "live help".

Jonathan -

All you need to do is flip the hall sensor over. It shouldn't care which side is up.

If it was the elevator you were having trouble with it would be easy; that axis looks to have the sensor equidistant between the screws, so you could just flip the whole board over. You might try that first to validate my suggested fix. If it works, and you have room, just do that then rotate the gimbal 180°.

Image

Otherwise, as it's the Aileron axis this will be a bit of a pain, this board is NOT so conveniently designed. You'll need to flip the sensor over on the sensor PCB. Trace out the signal wires with a meter to verify that the center red wire connects to the center pin on the sensor; pretty sure it does. If so, unsolder and flip the sensor, then unsolder and swap the two outer wires on the PCB. You SHOULD be able to do this without removing the gimbal; depends on how comfortable you are soldering.

For those of you thinking of trying this yourselves, this vendor has both the AL and Plastic gimbals at much more reasonable prices than the Esprit store had them last time I checked (it's where I found the pic):

Cheers!

Any of yaw tried the DIY "switch-ona-stick" mod? Seems like a good place for my panic/rescue switch, maybe.

I'm glad that site with the gimbals was in a language other than my native tongue, I didn't stay very long and consequently didn't spend any money.

On my Quanum stick I simply rotated the magnets 180 degrees to reverse the magnetic field and consequently the sensor output.

Yeah, I thought about that but it appears the magnets are pressed/glued on these gimbals, and I was concerned they might break if you try to pry them loose. The Quanum 3-axis has screws holding the magnets in place.

Thanks guys about the suggestion of shifting the Hall sensor... by the way I confirm the model of hall sensors as I purchased 10 of these sensors (S$65) and they are exactly the same as what is installed in jeti gimbal.

I will take the shifting as last resort to do, as I don;t really want to risk damaging the precision , calibration that was done by jeti before they ship out these gimbals...Especially now I know you can re-build the firmware to reverse the stick. Let me try that first.

Thanks again

Sorry, never used the OSX environment so no idea if that's still up to date.
jonathanyeo wrote: i) Do I use "make PCB=TARANIS"
Yes, otherwise you'd get a version for a 9x.
jonathanyeo wrote: ii) What do I need to do to get the same 2.1.7 release firmware but with the stick change
Same, but starting from the "master" branch instead of the "2.0" branch of the git repo. Even better is the 2.0.19 and 2.1.7 tags so you're on official release status.

Thanks Kilrah, were looking for advice on gitter.im also...:-)

The flipping of the stick is working, make the changes and customize firmware work now. ( Not sure why it didnt work yesterday ).

But the firmware I make using make PCB=taranis is not getting to the firmware feature I did with standard 2.1.7. Can I ask what option i must comiple with in order to get all the standard feature of the release 2.1.7 ?

It looks like LUNA scripts is not working, and keep complaining no SD card also. When I press to get the LUNA scripts to work, it just restart the TX.
size if only 230k...524k

Thanks to advice
