test firmware on 9xtreme tx won't shut dow

I just flashed the latest ersky9x test firmware for 9xtreme board. In the drop down menu under eeprom it says disabled. When i turn off the power the tx won't turn off. It just stays on with text saying shutting down, epprom busy. the only way to turn it off is to disconnect the battery. What have i done wrong?

I don't know what is wrong. I just flashed it myself (to be certain I'm using the same version), and it works correctly. It does say "EEPROM busy" briefly, then turns off.
If you flash the version you were using before, does it then work correctly?

The EEPROM menu is protected in the same way as the hardware menu. It is only enabled if you power on holding the left horizonttal trim to the left.

It might have nothing to do with it but What RF module are you using on the radio?

using frsky xjt module. no difference with it in or out.

Can you read the EEPROM?

If you start the radio in "bootloader mode" (both horizontal trims held towards the centre at power on), does it turn off properly?

it did turn off after being in boot loader. it would read the eeprom which was just the blank model page.
I can download firmware thru eepesky, but the screen just says "9xtreme" in the middle of the screen with ver 00.3 in the bottom left corner. The after about 3-5 seconds the screen gets pixelated. Turn off power switch does nothing. have to unplug the battery. then turn on in boot loader mode and screen comes up with "9xtreme" in the middle again.?

The "9Xtreme" text comes from the original board. It seems you are not getting data from the 9Xtreme board to the original board.
I think you need to remove the 9Xtreme and check the pads where the spring pins connect are really clean, then re-mount the 9Xtreme.

took out the 9xtreme board and the 9x main board. sandwiched them together to see if pins lined up. one looked crooked and was just missing the pad.So i tried to bend it back a little. Unfortunately i broke the pin out. Ive ordered another one. Ill try and see if i can solder a wire to the broken track and get it working again.

Ive got the extreme board up and running again. i am still getting "shut down updating eeprom" and tx won't turn off. went into model1, created a model, then went to back up model. Unable to back up. Message flashes up "bad eeprom" then sends me to the start screen of "bad eeprom hit any key to continue". Any ideas whats going on?

Use the contact page on the smartieparts.com site and reference this thread... I'll help you out from there. This sounds like a defective unit to me.

got a 2nd 9xtreme board and installed it. working like a charm. been playing around with the sound files etc. works magic.
so i thought ild give the 1st one another go. when i turn it on the first thing that is said is "error" then "welcome to er9xtreme throttle not in right position". I also noticed that the boot loader version on the first board is v1.8 as opposed to the 2nd board v1.7 boot loader.

If the second board is working, it was clearly a hardware issue
