From the burned board parts can you tell what circuits were burned up Steven?
Power buss and power control?
Why would a module smoke of it was stock, or the module pins were not rewired? Humm?

Receive 9xtreme and Installation

Post by ShowMaster »

Win7 64b Avast VS?
Ok, another subject. I'm trying to load a version of eepskye that will talk to my 9XT. I followed the links to what should be the correct version. I loaded what is showing Rev 415 7/10/15.
It doesn't have s drop down choice for the 9Xtreme board in it. I tried a link on the er9x.com site under Erie/eepskye (rev 418) and loaded it. It shows its rev 415, no 9XT choice, where I'm now.
I tried the Provisional rev 419 at the right side of the page options and got a virus warning. My virus ohm I think is blocking it now? It just goes to a page can't be displayed? Clicking on the eepe for linix or the eepskye for linix does go to a download as expected?

So I'm thinking I need a rev 419 setup for the 9Xt board or I use another pull down in the 415 that loaded?
I just need someone that's got it all setup and talking to the 9Xt to please post the links that I should be using.
This is not a communications issue yet
ImageUploadedByTapatalk1445720461.216410.jpg
, but more on loading in the correct eepskye.
I can see and access my 9Tt SD card so I know communications should be good.

Update
I disabled my virus scanner and was able to download rev 419.
I now can talk and download to my 9Xt board ok. Turning off my avast virus scanner did the trick. I only hope it was spoofed and no real virus came along with the download from the http://www.er9x.com site link.
I think I'm good other wise.

Are you using Windows or linux?

Mike.
I downloaded latest version here 19okt:
viewtopic.php?f=126&t=7712

I am using windows 7 64bit.
Maybe it has todo with the old (already 2 years!) eepe installation files i copied the quicktime files from to get eepskye running. I will try a newer version out this evening...

greetings Hans
Update: Installed the latest eepe/eepskye install files. Some progress... Now i can load the models from the transmitter every time. Uploading the eeprom model settings to the transmitter tried every ''send model/send eeprom'' but still no altered model in the transmitter. :?
Do you succeed sending models?

Meanwile RSSI levels are displayed on the transmitter :)

Not enough details to make any guesses, really.

The two components which he asked about are transistors upstream from the voltage regulator. There's a 3rd which I imagine should have been fried too at the same time and a 4th which I'd question as well. See picture. 1 & 2 are the two he asked about. #3 is really another of the same and I would think whatever happened to the other two would happen it that one as well. #4 is the same component, but playing a different role. Still, I'd check it.

Did we ever actually find out what "f**** battery" or whatever he said meant?

Hello,
I received the 9xTreme boards yesterday in great shape via China postal/US postal. Today the installation went well and the Tx comes on with speech. I have tried to read the Tx eeprom and firmware but get an error message that "Tx disk not mounted". I have not seen anyone report this so far. I have cleaned and reseated the contact points three time to no avail. I am not sure what this error means.

What do the parts 1234 do on the board? Power management?

Make sure you have a installed SD card and batterie on the back of 9 Extreme. Then you have to hold the 2 horizontal trims to the center and turn your transmitter on. The transmitter goes in to boatloader mode. Attach your USB cable and you will notice 2 drives coming up in your computer. Startup Eepskye. Now you can send newest firmware (date 19-10) and install the voices on the sd drive.
Hope this helps...

No, they're upstream of the VRs... its... complicated. It has to do with the convoluted power delivery the 9X uses, where "on" and "off" are relative terms depending on what exactly the 9X is doing at the moment (trainer vs charging vs normal operation, etc). I really wish Testo could/would give more details to the problem. It seemed he knew he did something wrong with the battery... but what?

OK, a bit frustrated. I installed the board, thought I did everything right, but now have "switch error". I've double checked the connections several times. A few specifics:
- I'm fairly new at this.
- I have a DJT in the slot
- Screen goes from red to blue to red to teal.
- my potentiometer on the front is modified to a 6 position switch, but that never made the radio unhappy before.
- Of course all my switches are in the right starting position.
- I would send a pic, but not sure how to get a link to it. It pretty much looks like the pic in the instructions. Made sure all the connectors went in the "right" way too.

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

DB

When you reply here, below the box where you type you'll see two tabs: "Options" and "Upload attachment". The latter is the one you want to click.

So for the 9Xtreme the telemetry wire colors are opposite to the way the TelemetrEZ board is. :o

Another surprise I did not think would have happened. ;)

So Steven, 9Xtreme Telemetry White wire goes to the DJT module's Rxd pin
and the Black wire goes to the DJT module's Txd pin.

So when using a XJT module in PPM / D8 / DipSW 1 ON and DipSW 2 OFF, the White wire goes to the XJT module's Rxd pin
and Black wire goes to the XJT module's Txd pin. With these setting the XJT module is changed into a DJT module.

I'm currently using a XJT module with the 9Xtreme black wire connected to pin 5 on the module bay pin, the XJT's Sport. This is for telemetry only. No connection to the white wire. Per MikeB, I haven't had to set any dip switches to any specific positions. When I set the protocol to D8, I'm able to bind to a x8r receiver via the menu option. I also see telemetry A1 displayed. When I select the D16 mode I'm able to bind to a X8R and can also display A1. I'll be adding more sensors soon.
I haven't tried the ppm mode, but for the D and X receiver use, I have no reason to with the XJT. The ppm mode when used for the Dht, the black and white wires need to be connected as they are for telemetry TXD & RXD.
I'm not addressing a DSM Orange or hack module at this time, only Frsky protocols.
To me, the XJT is the better universal choice for the Frsky D and X receivers, and don't require any dip switch settings changes. They're overridden by ersky9x.
I hope this helps.

A quick question, does anyone know ( before I solder)

if i solder servo headers on 7,8, and 9 for my DHT internal module is there enough space above the board for them to be vertical or should I use 90 degree pins

many thanks

should be tons of room. I positioned them to clear the battery bay.

Voice files and log files mainly. Even 1GB is more than large enough.

These days you can't buy much less that 8gb for $8 CDN at Walmart even...
I am sure there are lots of online sources for 1gb. ;-)

Speaking of walmart and SD cards... earlier this year I spotted a 128GB for only $15! I was thrilled. As I was checking out, I noticed it was 128MB... for $15. WTG Walmart.

The extra 6-wire on the right side...does that stay plugged into original board or just left alone?

So I installed the board today, and it runs.

I have the voice files loaded, and it fires up and talks to me (cool, although it does hiss).

But my real frustration is that I cannot get eepskye (r419 Oct19th) to upload my files to the system. I have a .bin file that saved that contains my config...and I can see it on the screen, and when I push it to the tx it says complete....when I reboot the tx my model just isn't there...

Frustrated...and need suggestions.
