Should RSSI be showing on DJT/D8R-ii even without telemetry setup?

Hi all, I've binded my FrSky DJT (on 9XR pro) with my D8R-ii, but I am seeing RSSI=0 on the main screen. My impression was that RSSI should be showing regardless of the telemetry setup, or is that incorrect?

(I will be receiving the 9XR pro telemetry cable later tomorrow and will have a chance to set that up)

Without the cable your DJT is keeping the data to itself...
