A scope would for sure help :)

Please VERY CAREFULLY NOT TO SHORT ANYTHING, measure the voltage between pins 6 (+V) and 7 (-V) of U5. This audio Amp is very tiny, so please find another place that connects to these pins to probe the voltage.. maybe on C61.. one probe on each side of C61. be careful not to short anything.
Another possibility is on both L1 and L4, on the side that connects to C61.
You should have around 5V..

Good, then there is power on the Amplifier.. You measured really between L1 and L4, right? and not between L1 and ground..

Do you have any mods done to your radio? If so, which ones..

Hmm, a scope would be really helpful now to follow the audio signal :(
Do you have a little audio amp? If you take a piece of audio cable (with one wire and a sleeve), make some kind of probe with a BBQ skewer and a needle, you could follow the audio signal.

The wires that come from the headphone jack connect to a connector on the mainboard, near the bluetooth connector. Make sure this is fully inserted.

Did audio still work after you installed the bluetooth? When exactly did it fail? Were you working on the radio?

Sorry about all these questions, it is difficult to help when you don't have the radio in front of you. All little details might help.

Ok, with that amp for searching the signal we are getting closer.
Please check if there is audio on R41 and on C49

So, there is sound coming in and out of the digital volume control chip.
The amplifier chip has a pin for shutdown, that is connected to the "audio enable" via. I will check the datasheet of the amp and see if it would have to be high or low to enable the audio. Then we will have to measure if the right level is there.

Even if the amplifier is broken, you either replace it, or you still have another possibility. There are some little 3+3 watt digital amps selling on ebay that you can use. They also run on 5V.
I will tell you a secret :) Well my 9XR-PRO's audio amp is also half broken. The speaker uses the full output of the amp and when the headphones are inserted, they short the "mute" pin of the amp to ground. That disconnects one of the speaker wires and the headphones are driven from the other output pin and ground. On mine the first speaker output got broken and the sound was very low and distorted. I installed one of those ebay little amps for the speaker and let the half of the radio's amp that still works drive the phones. This way I can also cut the sound to the speaker as the amp from ebay, with a little modification' can also be muted by shorting a pin to ground :)

In your case ai don't know if that would be possible with only one amp. I would have to check but I don't think so.

It says that when the SHUTDOWN pin (Pin 1) is held high, the device will shutdown.
Now I don't know if this works in any special way, or what this does on the PRO. maybe Mike could explain how it works, if he sees this?
But you could measure the voltage on pin 1 when voice is playing. It should be logic 0, that means a voltage close to 0V.
As always, be careful not to short anything..

EDIT: Measure on R64 and R95

It think the AUDIO pad is TP3. This means the audio signal from there goes through C83 (2.2uF) and R41 (4K7) and into pin 6 of U6 (the digital volume control.
The audio then comes out from U6 on pin 5, through C49 and R37 into pin 4 of U5, the audio amp. Pin 4 will be a virtual earth so you won't see any signal on it.
It could be that the digital pot (U6) is not working, so looking at the signal on pin 5 would be useful.

I think above he said he had signal at C49. That means the amp input has signal? That means that at least the digital pot is letting signal pass?

This is the amp I have installed in my 9XR-PRO.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/10PCS-PAM8403-2 ... Swy4hUR6WC

In my case I have re-used the working half of the PRO's amplifier.
Yours seem to be completely gone if that's the problem.. So, a different setup..
Please note that on these digital amps, you CANNOT connect both speaker negative outputs together.. They are NOT connected to ground.

Please find the datasheet attached to this post.

Yep, it is from Banggood :) I don't know where you are but mine came from their Europe warehouse.
It is quite easy to build, my only advice is to measure all resistors with the multimeter.. instructions are quite good also.
But it is not a 200Khz scope as they advertise, unless you just want to see if a signal is present..

The LM386 should work, and you might even be able to wire some headphones circuitry. :)
