Does it also display "Shutting Down" before it displays "Power Off"??
Please try to press a bit on the switch to see if it turns ON.
The power switch on mine already failed and I managed to repair it.. You could have the same problem, but we need to find out.

Yes it displays "Shutting Down" before "Power Off".
I tried pushing on the power switch but still the same issue.

Well, you will need to open the radio and do some measurements.. Are you ok with the idea?

The 9XR-PRO includes a "soft power switch" that keeps the power on, after you have switched the power switch off, to ensure the EEPROM is fully updated before finally powering off.It seems, on your radio, this is not switching off.

If, with the power switch off, you unplug the battery, wait a few seconds, then plug the battery in, does the radio power up? Does the blue "Ready" light come on?

If the tx displays the above mentioned even if the radio is ON (like mine did), then in my opinion the RF power side of the switch might not being switched ON. That means the voltage that tells the processor the radio is ON might not be present and the processor thinks it has to save the eeprom and turn the radio OFF. Obviously the other side of the switch is working because the radio stays ON..
In my opinion, the first step to locate the problem should be to measure the voltage or the continuity on that side of the power switch..

Yes I'm ok with that. I can work with circuits a bit.

Ok, remove the battery. Open the radio. Please note that there are different sized screws. Remove the RF board. You should find the power switch under it.
Check all connectors are fully inserted.
Check that there are no unsoldered wires at the switch or connectors.
Measure resistance between the center pins of the switch and the outer pins, to see if switch is working.

Found the switch to be defective.
Opened the switch, sanded the copper terminals, pinched the copper slider.
Voila!
Thanks all!

That is what I thought. As I said, I had exactly the same problem with mine. I don't know if sanding the contacts was a good idea though :) I cleaned mine with contact cleaner and a toothbrush. They went from black to shinny :)
Imagine if this happens while flying a model :( It seems the power switch used on this radio is of a less than acceptable quality..
Because of this problem I developed a circuit that keeps the radio ON even if the switch fails. I have it installed on my 9x radios, but I still didn't test it with my 9XR-PRO..

Well done by the way.. :D

Yes I agree the switch is of poor quality.
I just sanded of the carbon from the terminals and tried if it will work. I plan to replace that switch with a higher quality or perhaps install a mosfet altogether.
I'll try to salvage a good switch from my old futaba Txs and hopefully they're the same size.
I've been reading some of the threads here and you guys are of great help.
Thanks and more power to you guys!

Surprisingly I had one at home that fitted almost like a glove. It needed like a 1mm of sanding in the top plastic part of the switch, to be able to fit the cap, but besides that, it fitted great and works.

My main radio is that 9xtreme you already know, this one has little use, so I am surprised it failed so fast.

Sometimes that is the reason things fail faster :) :P
