Frsky current sensor FCS-150A and 9XRpro with XJT module

Post by Andromede »

Hello, I try to use the FCS-150A current sensor connected to the smart port of one of my two X8R receivers (16 ch) . My radio is the 9XRpro with the XJT module.I bound the first 8XR with telemetry(mode 5) and the second without telemetry. In telemetry I use Alarm mAh and 128 mAh (for example) +Warn1. In the voice menu : Source mAh; Funtion V> val; value : 128; play source : before;I have chosen the right voice file. When I reach 128mAh
I got no warning and no voice alarm.

The Alarm warning (Warn1 in your example) now uses a voice message "CAP_WARN.wav" that should be in the voice\system directory on the SD card.
What revision of firmware are you running. I did find a bug in the processing of the voice alerts where the only test for playing a voice message was the function (e.g. v>val). This is fixed in the later test versions found here: viewtopic.php?f=7&t=4676.

I am using the r-218 version. In the telemetry page, in the line :Port Com.frsky I tried to write 1 instead of 2 but the radio refused to do that and return to the next page. So I decided to flash the firmware with eepskye and since that, the radio no longer works : the screen is flashing, showing message
like "alert check mix sources" or name of the planes, I have no control on the radio.

Things go from bad to worse. I have a second 9XRpro radio with DJT module, I put the XJT module on it and the radio doesn't work like the first one.
May be the problem comes from the XJT module ? but if I put the DJT module on the first 9XRpro it still doesn't work.

Which revision (or test version) did you flash?
Did you make sure you flashed the file "ersky9xr_rom.bin" (the firmware for the 9XR-PRO)?
When it shows the name of a 'plane, does it say "LOADING" and the name?

In what way does the second 'PRO not work with the XJT module?

I flash with the r-218 and use the file ersky9xr_rom.bin. The radio says " loading and the name".
The second pro with XJT module show the first page for one plane (with the sound of a regular "click noise") and when I press menu it says "loading + name" . I tried again with this radio and now I have the list of all the planes but when I try to change of plane, I got only the first of the list. This second radio
still work with the DJT module.

There is a feature in ersky9x where, if you hold one of the 6 buttons pressed at power up, then one of the first 6 models is loaded, which one depending on which button is pressed. The radio displays "LOADING" and the model name. It seems one of your buttons is being detected as pressed! The screen will stay like that until the button is released.

If you read the EEPROM from the first radio with eepskye, you can find the names of the first 6 models. Then let us know which one is reported as loading, then we can work out which button is detected as pressed.

It does seem the XJT module is causing a problem on the second radio.

I have two models on the first radio : n°1: F-14 ; n°2: F-15 . If I press menu I get :"loading F-14"; If I press exit I get :"loadingF-15" I can nearly get nothing else from this radio. I will have to change my XJT
module ?

Concerning the first radio (the one witch doesn't work with XJT and DJT) I can hear the repeating noise of a pressed button (with or without the XJT
module inside). I can hear the same noise with the second radio with 10 models and as I said, when I choose one model I get it for one second and I return to the first one.

I found the reason of my problems. I use a computer with Kubuntu to flash the firmware of my 9XR pro and untill now, I thought it was not a problem.
I tried again to flash the two 9XRpro using a computer with windows and everythings works now! radio and XJT module. May be, with Kubuntu some parts
of the firmware were missing ? It could also explain why my two X8R(16ch) receivers sometimes lost the signal of the radio ?
I will try to use the FCS-150A now.

Can I use the r-218 version with the FCS-150A ? I still have no signal for mAh. How can be sure that the telemetry is working on my radio ?

In the telemetry menu, have you set the "Current Source" to "FAS"?

No, but I have done it and there is no signal. In the telemetry menu I put nothing in the first, in the third one : Alarm mAh 64 Warn1, in the fourth:
Telemetry BT on or off ? Decal FAS ? In the fivth : Vario source ? Current source FAS .

On a custom telemetry display, please select both "Amps" and "Mah".
Do you have a value showing for Amps when the model is using current? If so, does the Mah value keep increasing?

I did that, I got the amps, the mAh keep increasing and the alarm works. There is one last problem : when I start the radio I have no telemetry (no RSSi,TSSi , AMPs ,mAh), to get it I have to go in the telemetry menu, in the line "reverse COM1" I must change OFF to ON and ON to OFF several time (I hear "no telemetry") to get the telemetry.

Please check the real time clock. Is this running, and does it keep the time through a power off?
I know this is an odd question, but the signal that controls the COM1 inversion is maintained by the RTC chip.

The real time clock (with Sec,min,hour,day,mouth...) is not running and at zero. I can't change year,mouth,day....But after trying to change this, the RTC started to run and it keep the time through a power off; the telemetry works now when I start the radio. The year, month, etc.. can't still be changed.
What is the use of "set menu long" in the RTC page ?

To set the time and date after you've changed them, you should press long the menu key so the new settings take effect..
You probably need to replace the RTC battery.

Everything is working except the voices, they are still there in the voice menu but I can't hear them since the setting of the telemetry and the current sensor. Of course I turn the volume to the maximum.

When I start the radio there is a message "alarms desactivated " and "press any key " if I press a button sometimes the voices go back sometimes not.
I don't see why the alarms are desactivated.

What do you have as the "Trigger" value? If it is ON, please try changing to 5 (Secs) and see if the voices then work.

If I change the rate in voice menu and replace ON with 5sec, I have always the message "alarms desactivated " and "press any key " when I start the radio. If I press I got the voices.

In the RadioSetup|AudioHaptic menu you have the Beeper set to "quiet" so some alarms do not sound. In the RadioSetup|Alarms menu you have "Alarm Warning" enabled, so you get a warning at power on to let you know this is the case.

Hi,

I have a question. Got FCS-150A, 9xrpro with xjt. Also FLVSS voltage sensor.
Firmware ersky9x-pg1r221

1) Amps are shown in the telemetry OK, but mAh stays at zero. What is wrong?

2) FASV is zero , but Ctot is OK. Should FASV show voltage from FLVSS also?

1) OK I selected current source as FAS but I had to do that in eepeskye. I could not find this setting in telemetry menu on radio. mAh works OK now.
2) I guess I should mutiply Amps*Ctot. But how do I mutiply two telemetry values?

What version of erSky9x do you have on your 9XR-pro ?
You may have an old firmware version.
Er9x on 9x radio, with Smartieparts Programmer and TelemetrEZ Board.
ErSky9x on Taranis, Sky9x, 9Xtreme radios.
3D-Printing: (https://openrcforums.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=129).

The current source setting should appear in the telemetry menu.
There is "watts" telemetry value available ("Fwat"), although it does expect the voltage to be in FasV. If you need to use Ctot as the voltage, set up a scaler with source Ctot, and set the "Dest" to "Volts", no other settings should need changing.
Then just use "Fwat" for the watts value.
