I'm going to guess that at some point the "connect" signal was pulled the wrong way at power up. Since this is the "Chip Erase" signal at power up, this would erase the firmware.

Check in device manager to see if the processor is appearing as a device (other than 2 drives) when you plug in the USB.

I suggest removing the connection for the "connect" signal, then go here: viewtopic.php?f=123&t=5581, and follow the instructions in "9XR Pro Using SAM-BA to restore bricked Tx 2014-02-12.pdf".

Thanks Mike!
that worked.
I am sure that is what happened
I have one of the BT modules where the trace from the "unused" pin is not apparent. I didn't cut any traces.
I will bypass the pin and connect to the board directly, which I also did on the 9x, I wasn't sure if that had caused me a problem on 9xtreme i had other issues when getting that one to work and thought I would give the pin another go.

again thank you very much.

Hi Mike,

I did everything as per instructions including connect a wire from erase pin (lower left pin of the J9 socket on the mainboard) to pin 34 of the HC-05 module but still can't set the bt role as master/slave. The only peculiar thing with my HC-05 is that there is no continuity between the button pad (left or right of the pad) and the pin34. That is why I decided to connect the wire straight to the pin 34. The Bluetooth module is powered up and I can see the module from my PC.BT diagnostic is all 0000. I'm using 9XR Pro with ersky9x-pr219 (V.4689-Mike) firmware. Any idea? Thanks.

Please post good pictures of your connections. Also a picture from the BT menu..

Did you change the BT Baudrate to 115200 in Radio setup/General??

Hi jhsa,

I didn't realized that when I closed the back cover one of the wire was disconnected, too short. I made a longer cable and now I can set the BT role (master or slave). Thanks for your help anyways.

I've been reading through this thread and have added a bluetooth module to my 9xr-pro. I was wondering if it was possible to configure the radio via eepskye and bluetooth rather than using a usb connection? Can it be done? If so how?

Thanks

HC-05,as it can be configured by the radio as Master and as Slave..
The HC-06 comes configured from factory, normally as Slave..

Yes, the HC-05 gives you more options as it can be swapped between master and slave from the firmware.
The HC-06 is fixed at the factory to either master or slave very difficult to swap to the other mode.

This is probably a very dumb question but apart from using BT as a trainer port can the BT be used for anything else?

You may send the raw telemetry data out over bluetooth to a device that can decode and display it.
There is also a mode where the display contents are sent to eepskye, so eepskye may display the screen image. I put this in mainly to enable the capture of displays por posting on forums or adding to manuals.

And it is a great feature Mike. I already used it on some of my videos, thank you.
One thing that Bluetooth could be used for, could be the exchange of models, settings, and perhaps voice files between 2 radios and also between a radio and eepskye.
This could be very useful at the field. I, for example, don't take a computer with me to the field ;)
And it would be another killer feature in ersky9x. :)

Thanks

Is this option available in the er9x version for the er9xtreme? I would really like to get gps coordinates etc passed through the telemetry link so I can record missions through my phone app via bluetooth!

Hello,

can anyone tell me the correct type of desired connector on 9XR PRO board? I tried everything but I cannot find the right one. Looks like JST-something, PH maybe ? I found one in local R/C models store but it looked different, now when I searching on the web it looks like jst-ph 2 mm..

Hi, is the cc-41 bluetooth module connected the same way as the hc-05? Thx.

Basically yes. Do you have an official one (HM-10) or a clone? The clones use a different command set.
I don't, currently, recommend BT LE 4.0 as the throughput is limited.

so, for now the hc-05 will be good enough.

That is a clone, indicated by the missing crystal/resonator.

On the older 9XR, as far as I know it will not work. The same for the 9x radio with stock board.

Yes. I've only ever used a 3.3V supply to a HC-05 or a HC-06.
