Turnigy 9XR pro shows blank blue bootloader screen

Post by vtgrx »

When I switch my 9XR Pro on, it shows SHUTTING DOWN followed by POWER OFF and the message stays on screen until I switch it off. If I move the power button a bit, it brings me back to the normal screen. I tried reflashing but when I hold the trim buttons inwards followed by the power button, I get a blank blue screen. What is the solution?

The power switch is broken..
I also had that problem. Couldn't find replacements. I had to take the switch apart and clean the contacts with alcohol and a tooth brush.. Then had to assemble it again..

Did it work after resoldering?

After reassembling. Didn't need to desolder anything. Just took the switch apart.

It was kept open for quite a few days. It had gathered a lot of dust over it. So, dust is the result of the broken switch?

I would say bad quality is the cause.
I wouldn't plug any high power RF modules to the radio..

Hey, if it is possible for you, can you make a video on how to open the transmitter. I cannot get the power switch to open after removing the board. Thanks!

search youtube, I think there are videos showing how to open the radio. Mine is nice and closed now :)
Basically, I think you will have to remove the RF module board to access the power switch. I also do not remember very well. Last time I have opened it was quite a while ago.. :)

Have a look inside and try to find out how to get to the switch.. Take pictures as you go, so you know how to put everything together again..

Had to open the front panel as well. I had to replace the DPDT switch, it was broken.

Well, I had to remove the switch's entire shelling and then something like this popped out. I was able to easily find an exact spare for this in my local electronic store.

Well, not as easy as it looked. The DPDT switch knobs come in various sizes and the one in the TX seems to be somewhat of 4.4mm X 3.6mm X 5mm. I measured it using a scale of least count 1mm. It is difficult to find a DPDT of that exact size. I also need someone with a caliper to measure the switch for me.
