Rlink.. possible brown out or other?

Hi Royal way..

I am trying to get to the bottom of an issue I am seeing on three models I have using the R-Link system.

Every once in a while - I will get a 'blip' where all my channels center, then return to their controlled position again. It feels like a 'fail safe' occurs.. but it is not this as it happens even when right next to the model.

Have you any ideas on this one? What would cause it?

Rob

I may have solved this.

I have pur a ferrite clamp on the cable from the radio to the transmitter module.

Initial tests look good.

Had some time to run for longer.

Then ferrite has helped (I think)

But I still get occasional blips. Sometimes also I get a beep from the to module.

Now.. This is leading me down two possible point of issue.

1. Some kind of tx brown out. (Powered by 8cell nimh from taranis rear socket)
2. Some kind of receiver brown out.

I will start by plugging a cap on the receiver power line and then report back.

You should scope the PPM and power between radio and module.
The fact a ferrite helps suggests that RF from the module is screwing the radio up, or some coupling to the PPM wire is making the signal dirty so that the module loses sync.

Yup. It will probably be something like that!

Question is... How to fix!

Another two clamps...

And for now... The problem seems solved.

Well.

That means I left it for 10 minutes and did not have a blip.

OK...

Blips came back.

I realised this time I had the head tracker plugged in.

No doubt the long lead acting like a UHF antenna!

I plugged a ferrite on that - and all seems OK :)
