Hawkeye Deluxe, Turnigy 9X, Smartieparts basic board, - Screen problems

I have a Turnigy 9x that I has been modded with a SmartieParts basic board running ER9x. Everything has been working great with the stock 2.4ghz TX unit. However, I have just hooked up my Hawkeye Deluxe DTF-UHF running OpenLRSng, and now I have screen problems.
These Problems range from a non-functioning screen to a very slow to come on screen based on the power setting I have configured for the Hawkeye unit.
More specifically:
Power Setting 2: Turnigy 9x comes on when I flip the switch and shows standard ER9x splash screen, then goes blank and after a few seconds begins to slowly go from blank to my normal screen when ready to use, except, it flickers a bit.
Power Setting 7 - Full Power: Turnigy 9x comes on when I flip the switch and shows standard ER9x splash screen, then goes blank and after a few seconds begins Flicker random lines on teh screen, but never shows correctly.
I have tried the following battery setups and both have the same problem.
1: Stock battery setup, 8 AA Batteries
2: Zippy 1800 LiFe battery, which is 5c rated
Any idea how to fix this problem? Is this a known Turnigy 9x problem that I have not read about before, or what is happening?
Thanks,
Cliff
