Re: Bug in FRSKY

Thanks for that, I had the fix ready, but too many others in my sources to easily commit that one alone. I now do svn updates as a matter of course.

Re: usbasp problems

labs, what is the command line to avrdude? The processor on the 9x is an ATMEGA64, not an ATMEGA128, hence the signature warning.
The sck error may also be a problem on the command line asking for too fast a speed.

Re: DSM2 work

I haven't tried it, but I reckon the main interrupt routine can be reduced to: ISR(TIMER1_CAPT_vect) //2MHz pulse generation { static uint8_t pulsePol; uint8_t x ; PORTB ^= (1<<OUT_B_PPM); x = *Dsm2_pulsePtr++; // Byte size ICR1 = x ; if ( x > 200 ) { PORTB |= (1<<OUT_B_PPM); // Make sure pulses are...

Re: DSM2 work

Pat, my er9x source files have the DSM2 changes I put in, plus some other fixes. I'd like to commit these other fixes. Are we at a point where the DSM2 stuff is good enough to commit? We can commit other improvements later. If we are, could you let me have the source files you have changed please. M...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

No problem with turning the PPM to the RF module off if in trainer mode, and we have separated PPM to the RF and PPM in and PPM out to the jack so we have lots of options. General to all, the developing software is now on googlecode, lots still to do, but its looking good so far. Just getting the me...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Should be possible. Pots often have a full rotation of 300 degrees, the sticks only 60 degrees, so we only have a fifth of the voltage. But, on the ersky9x board, we can scale this by 4 to get four fifths of the voltage, and we have 4 times the resolution (12 bit not 10 bit) to measure this with. Th...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Here's something interesting the new board could do. The analog to digital inputs have optional scaling and offset. Now the 9x has special pots that give the full voltage swing over the stick movement, but other pots and sticks give a lesser voltage range. No problem, just move the A2D offset to the...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Can we switch the RF on and off? If in trainer mode, does the backlight light up? If not, we probably know the current drain so can allow for it.

Re: Throttle not idle warning

Interesting! I'm trying to pin this down, does the warning go away when you move the throttle stick to full? if not, as a test when you have the throttle warning displayed please move the ELEVATOR stick to full UP and DOWN. I'm wondering if the startup thinks the throttle is on that stick. I haven't...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Looks OK, the protection resistor could be a much larger value. I suggested a zener to protect the CPU from the sense voltage going to high due to a failure in the ZXCT1009. Rather than 100 ohms, R59 could be 10K. This will provide a significant current limit if the CPU pin protection diode is forwa...

Re: Throttle not idle warning

-100 when stick is down to +100 when stick is up, same as ELE stick. If you select throttle reversed does it correct the throttle to normal? And if not, does it become correct if you then select throttle not reversed. You may have tried this already. There may be a curious problem in the EEPROM, whe...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I would hope we don't get to 1A  Even at 1A, power is IxIxR = 1x1x0.1 = 0.1 watt, not 1 watt, so a 0.1 watt shunt should be OK. We can handle high input impedances in the A2D, it has a programmable tracking time for this purpose. I actually need to do the calculations on this for best perfo...

Re: idea: Tx Running timer / power meter

There is a timer on the STAT screen at the top called TOT. This shows the total time since the tx was turned on. Currently it cannot be reset. THe problem with tracking the total on time is it needs to be stored in EEPROM for when the tx is off. We can't store this as the Tx is switched off, so it w...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

I would think so. How about setting it up to give an A2D voltage from 0 to 2.5V, but putting a 3.3V zener in parallel with the resistor in the current output of the ZXCT1009. We have enough resolution that 2.5V will give an accurate enough reading, and the zener should not leak too much current at 2...

Re: Throttle not idle warning

Since r635, I think only telemetry related changes have been done. If this is a problem only in the recent standard versions, then stick to r635. I'll try to look into this, but my tx is modified for the FrSky versionn so it may be difficult.

If you have put the 32kHz xtal on the CPU, I don't think the RTC chip is needed.
We do want to measure the whole current draw if possible.

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Agreed we don't need high speed, just thought it would be nice if we just had to read a counter to get the encoder position. It's probably not worth the effort to frre the pins, the software can do it. Re the op-amp, have you looked at Microchip, MCP601/MCP602. They are cheap, CMOS, rail-to-rail dev...

Re: ERSKY9x Questions

Doesn't look like we can get the pins free for the quadrature encoder hardware, we need PC23 and PC24, but the PPM-in would then need to be on PC29, or PA0, PA15, PA26. These are the available capture inputs on the chip.

How will the ground sense resistor work?

The pilots name is in the bottom left corner, 8 pixels high, and up to 60 pixels wide (10 chars - 6 pixels each). On er9x, the word PILOT is above, it is part of the splash image so I'm not sure exactly where it is. There is a gap below it and the actual name, and it is in a bit from the left. It is...

I have some ideas for trying to keep track of how long the tx has been switched on, and storing this in the EEPROM. These all look interesting, but are to a higher resolution then the actual screen (128x64). We need to see them on the correct resolution or they may not look so good.
