Re: OpenXSensor SPORT Interface
Hi Michel Thanks for the post and welcome to the forum. You have to remember that the pressure sensor has noise so if you calculate the V-speed the way you are saying, then you are including the insantaneous noise value which becomes a part of the v-speed result. Sum of 20 differences smooths out th...

Re: OpenXSensor SPORT Interface
Huh. That's interesting. The logged vertical speed data doesn't seem to correlate with the altitude data. I'm used to looking at these sorts of altitude/vario graphs and the vertical speed is basically the slope of the altitude graph. Where you see a large change in altitude the vspeed graph should ...

Re: OpenXSensor SPORT Interface
Hi Neil Any chance you could post that log as a regular .xls or an open office format? My version of open office can't digest .xlsx but I would like to look at a 3:20:00 flight record! Congrats on getting it going. I myself just moments ago got r195 flashed and got a working S-port alti/vario workin...

Re: OpenXSensor SPORT Interface
I now have a functioning air speed sensor! YAY!!! We had freezing rain and slick roads so I don't know if it is properly calibrated. Very close. Bruneaux I have access to a proper wind tunnel at the university where I work. I could help with that if you like. Congrats on getting it going! Joe

Re: oXs +C custom PC board build
My board works like this. You feed a regulated 5v in and it feeds that through a current sensor and back out to power your Rx and gear. I've arranged it so a standard servo plug brings the power to the Rx and the signal from that channel can then be used to control things in the oXs such as Kalman g...

Anybody tried using MPIDE to compile the oXs code?
It reports lots of errors. I am only familiarassembly language development so far and am at a bit of a loss...

oXs +C custom PC board build
Hi guys I have done some testing using a precision current monitor IC for oXs+C and decided to go to the trouble of doing a custom board layout. I wanted something specific to discus launch gliders and the hall type current sensors are fine for electric planes and gliders but are just not suitable f...

Re: openXvario+C Current Sensor Support
I have setup a pro-mini and GY-63 module on a breadboard and just connected a potentiometer to the current sense input. I have configured the compile switches to send the current as T1 and the milliamp percentage as fuel. When the oXs powes up I get 100% fuel which decreases in 10% increments at a s...

Re: openXvario+C Current Sensor Support
Rainer, Rather than use the DIST field to get around the 100mAH resolution problem in the CNSP field in the telemetry why not prescale the current actual value in software by multiplying by 10 or 100 before sending to the rx? That way you can get 10mAH or 1mAH resolution through the telemetry. You j...

Anybody else out there with a sky ver. 3 board notice the trouble I am having going between the transmitter and C9x? If I create a mix using the interface on the radio and then read the eeprom into C9x some of the variables are corrupted in the transfer. I have attached a sample .bin file as an exam...

Re: A better V-TAIL mix
Hi Rob Just wanted to let you know I tried out your V-tail differential idea today on the hobbyking Specter. It was a bit thermally even thought I waited till near sunset and then I had to go but I definitely found that 20 weight was too much with my setup but when I reduced it to 10 it seemed prett...

Re: A better V-TAIL mix
Thanks for this Rob I used it as a starting point for an advanced program for my Spectre which is the HK knock-off of the Passer-X. I map the rudder function to a virtual channel where I can use a GVAR to control the weight on mixing a portion of the aileron into the rudder for turn coordination. Th...

Oh I forgot to mention also: I have a custom function setup to play the altitude value on the speaker whenever it changes by an amount greater than the chosen value. When I imported the eeprom file into C9x instead of showing play 'alt' it was changed to play 'PPM6' Also forgot to tell: I am using a...

Re: openTx-r2215
Strange thing I notice on recent (r2168 to r2281) versions is that when I am using a mix which has as the WEIGHT term a global variable then when I read the eeprom into C9x the weight field does not show GV1 or GV2 but rather it shows -512% or -511% etc on the mixer tab in C9x. Also I would like a f...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
SNIP... but the hub won't fit in the fuselage of my DLG (its a NEO made by Seba: http://flightcomp.com/airframesparts/). So, that sent me on a search for an all-in-one altimeter to work with my D4R-II receiver (I have a DJT transmitter module in my 9x running openTX). I saw pictures earlier of this...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
+1 on the sparkfun openlogger. I love it. The only drawback is if you want really fast logging you can't send too many characters too fast or you will overwrite the buffer. There is a similar product at sparkfun which writes to onboard flash and I think is better for high speed logging. That being s...

Re: FrSky FAS-100 Telemetry Amperage Sensor
There are two data outputs from the FAS sensor. If you don't have the hub you use the middle one to pug in the Rx. If you have the hub then you use the data out at the side of the FAS and connect that wire to the current input on the hub. You can connect all the available inputs on ther hub to vario...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
Moving average takes more cycles to compute than IIR? Really? Is this due to C implementation? Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
Yes I commented out all of the serial output possibilities and set the PPM to always. It is obvious the remote gain control is working by just lifting the model up and down inside the house with my hand with different settings of the pot. I did have the wrong (too high) value for the range on A2. I ...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
At last it is all done. The rx with vario attached actually is smaller than before the case was removed. Here it is mounted in one of my gliders: oXv_in_HK_Spectre.JPG Seems to be working good. I have set the settings to -3, -0.5, +0.2, +3 for testing at home otherwise the vario is chirping falsely....

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
I don't have a clear photo but the next thing I did was solder the analog out (blue wire) to the A2 input beside the yellow wire on the D8R-II rx and then ran the wires for Vcc, Gnd, and PPM around the edge of the D8R board and soldered to the points on the back of the header for the servo connectio...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
Next the oXv is prepared. I did it pretty much as per the instructions on the wiki except I chose alternate locations for the power and ground to the MS-5611 pressure sensor board. oXv_ready.JPG I had a 33uF tantalum cap which was fairly small so I used it for the analog filter. I want to try the in...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
Well that wasn't so bad. I tried for a while to program the arduino with a USB asp but eventually gave up in disgust. Luckily I had a little board lying around with a prolific USB to serial chip and it worked to program the arduino because I don't have an FTDI basic. Since I want to use the FAS-100 ...

Hi all First I am relatively new to 9x (since Dec. 2012) and I am running open 9x on a Sky 3.0 board. Much I have learned from these forums but I am about to embark on a new journey with my first discus launch glider for which I have chosen the topsky 3. Browsing the DLG forums I an gathering a lot ...
