Of course, must be getting old. Thanks. I now have the firmware loaded from the card.
I can communicate between the PC and the radio in bootloader mode, copy models to and fro. But with radio off I still am getting DFU device error as above.

Re: OpenTX 2.1 telemetry system preview
I have installed Companion 2.1 on two different PCs now, XP and W7. When I try to flash the OpenTx-Taranis.bin file using Companion with the Tx off I get a DFU-Util error. Filter on vendor = 0x0483 product = 0xdf11 Opening DFU capable USB device... Cannot open device If I go to this .bin which I hav...

Re: OpenTX 2.1 telemetry system preview
The two versions of Companion can co-exist, I discovered that much. But now my radio won't connect as the STM32 driver is missing. I'm wondering which version of the Taranisxx.bin to download, there's a .bin and a X9E.bin (I have an early radio, A model).

I've not used the nightly builds before. Is there a description of the process that needs to be employed to use them somewhere, a search hasn't helped so far?

Re: Taranis RF Power question
That's right. I originally bought two ufl/coax/SMA cables just in case and have tried both. I also tried the 2db aerial off my DHT-U module (lower RSSI than 5 db) and a different 5 db aerial. The two 5 db aerials give virtually the same RSSI result. Presumably if there is an issue with the connector...

Taranis RF Power question
My first Taranis has always given me low and critical RSSI warnings at relatively close range. It was worse with X8R receivers than with D series so I swapped to using the latter. To try and resolve the issue I replaced the antenna with a 5db version. No improvement. Suspecting the RF board I tested...

6 Position Press Button Switch
This 6 position press button switch with LEDS mode switch.jpg works with Taranis in place of the FRSKY 6 position switch. Now we need a case and mounting arrangement to make it more useful. http://www.goodluckbuy.com/apm-flight-controller-flight-mode-switcher-selector-board-v2.html also available on...

The Smartieparts shop used to sell a replacement screw kit with brass inserts that go in the posts. I can't see it in his store now, maybe PM him and ask if he has any kits left.

File Associations eepe and OTX
I can manually associate an eepe with OTXC with the Windows dialogue but I cannot select the box which allows me to associate all files of this type with OTC, I have to do each file separately. I have the same issue in W7 and Vista and it has only been the last few days. With OTXC 2.0.13 and 2.0.14....

Thanks. I have a version A (early) Taranis with 2.0.13 installed. I have attempted to follow the instructions. I put this - x9dp_rom.zip - (unzipped of course) from your link onto the Taranis SD card and flashed it. When flashing was complete the backlight went out and the screen locked on the 3 men...

ER9X on Taranis
After a long time using OpenTx on a 9X and later Taranis I thought it might be nice to have a look at Er9X again. I read on RCG that it could be installed on Taranis, but after installing EEPE I discover connecting to Taranis and installing ER9X requires more knowledge than I have. Can someone advis...

Re: how do I get 5 flight modes on channel 5 on taranis plus
There's several different ways. Here's one that works for me.
Uses SBUS for Ch 1-8 to the Flight Controller (X8R receiver bound in mode 4) and channels 9 and 10 to control gymbal pan and tilt (on receiver pins marked Ch 1 and 2) using the left and right sliders.

Re: FrSky 6 position switch
I upgraded to 2.0.13 last week. My 6 position switch now does not function correctly. It misses 2 centre positions and one end position. I tried recalibrating, the process does not seem to find 6 discrete positions, after moving the switch through all locations once the number 5 shows at the bottom ...

That's true, unless the device has a flight controller with flight modes, panic options and autotune option, such as anything using Arducopter, all of which use channels beyond the 4.

OTX upgrade "loses" settings
Yesterday I responded positively to the invitation to upgrade OTX Companion to 2.0.13. After the upgrade when I looked at my (only) profile I find that all the tick boxes in the build options are blank as is the splash screen. I got no invite to download the latest transmitter firmware. None of thes...

Re: Help with a mix please
What I have done may not make much sense. What I was trying to do was to replace the two switch combo that selects the 6 flight modes with a single switch activated line that would allow me to instantly get to the RTL flight mode. I would use the same replace arrangement when I use the 6 position sw...

Help with a mix please
I was messing with the attached eepe setup for Arduplane which I have been using for a year and added an additional Flight Mode. I am now wondering why the replace mix for this Flight Mode 7 does not replace those lines above it. It does set Logical Switch 7 in simulator but one of the other Logical...

Taranis and X8R binding
I use a X8R bound in mode 4 on one of my quads. I have the SBUS port connected to the APM via a SBUS to CPPM converter and use the channel 1 and 2 ports on the receiver, which when bound in mode 4 become channels 9 and 10, to control camera pan/tilt. When I went to fly yesterday I discovered that I ...

Re: Any solution works with serial output?
I read somewhere that this was (partly) because FRSKY had not published the telemetry specs and the protocol was proprietary. The developers were unwilling to risk copyright breach. If this was a problem has it been resolved?

At present I run a FRSKY DIY module remote from the transmitter using the external module settings. The connection is via a 3 core cable from the module bay pins. The previous firmware was OpenTX, have been using it since it came out. When I updated to 2.0.7 from 2940 all my models were lost, no conversions. 2.0.7 on a 9X radio
Today I installed OpenTx 2.0.7 on one of my 9X radios. That was a fun experience, just as well that I had my models backed up as they were all deleted as were the settings in all the profiles. Two questions. Is there any way to have more than 4 flight modes? it would help with compatibility with APM...

I had a similar issue with my 9x last week. I powered it up after a week in the cupboard and the two aileron servos in the model both went to 45 degrees down when the stick was centred. All servos were jittering but elevator and rudder were around centre. The ESC didn't play it's startup song. The a...

Has there been a change with EXPO
I have been using the EXPO function since the 80s to counteract my inability to move the elevator stick back and forward without moving the rudder inadvertently (mode 1). I use it to put a dead band around the rudder centre position. After a year or so messing with multirotors I came back to my SBAC...
