Haptic Questions
I'm going to be adding in a piezo speaker and vibrator motor for the haptic feedback mod and before I began have a few questions. In the wiki diagram it says to cut the tracks where indicated with the red marker. However, it's not clear to me exactly where to cut. The top red mark looks like it's cu...

Re: Eurgle 9x complete Modding
So then do you use another switch to switch ppm between the two modules?
EDIT: Daryoon, that sounds like a decent way to do it. Thanks for the idea.

Re: Eurgle 9x complete Modding
Looks quite amazing! What is the green board above the dsm module for?
Also, what type of switch do you use to switch both ppm and + for the modules? I use an DPDT switch but seeings the spektrum takes 3.3v and frsky the 5v I don't see how it'd be possible to switch both ppm and + on one switch.

Altitude from FrSky GPS
I'm hoping to get setup with FrSky telemetry soon and was wondering if it's possible to use the Frsky gps to get speed and altitude to be displayed in er9x? I see they sell a variometer for altitude so wasn't sure if altitude could be retrieved from the gps or not. Is this possible?

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
I'm just about ready to get this all wired up. I was going to use this diagram (http://www.hacksmods.com/2011/12/spektrum-dsm2-module-from-hp6dsm/) for what wire goes on what pin. However my AMTX11 seems to be the reverse of the AMTX10 in those pictures. By this I mean that the pins are sticking out...

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Is it bad to have a ppm signal going into an inactive module (meaning one that isn't receiving any power)?

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
So with a SPDT switch I would need two switches, correct? One to switch each module on/off. I realize if they both were using the same power source one switch would work but seeings the dsm module's power is coming from the ubec and the frsky would be coming directly from the board I don't see how o...

lol it easily comes off with the removal of the little metal studs. I could easily put it back on again. Do you have that whole big plastic thing inside your 9x case?cr8tive_leo wrote:what happened to the top of your antenna???

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
OK, so after some work with my new desoldering braid I managed to remove my AMTX11 from the donor, however I would prefer not to have the huge rubber thing inside my 9x but I can't figure out how to remove the antenna wire from the bottom rubber section. Here's a picture of what I've got so far: htt...

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Cool. Now from reading reviews of solder wick online people seem to say it works much better after flux is applied to the wick. Is that your experience?

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
What's the best way to unsolder the module from the dx5e pcb without damaging either? Do I need to buy something like a solder sucker pump or wick or something to help? If it was only a couple pins it would be easy but have all 12 heated in order to pull it up seems a bit impossible.

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Well I could probably have guessed that, but I'm just being extra cautious here. ;) I do have a couple more questions (will they ever end?? with me, probably not!): Is it better to use the switch to switch the ppm from one module to another, or power from one to the other? It seems useless to have t...

This is a silly question I'm sure but I'm assuming only one of those red wires in your image are going to your ubec. Which one?

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Anyone know where I could get a cheap 3.3v ubec in the US? I found the one cr8tive_leo uses on hobbypartz but shipping was more then it itself!
Also I've seen your pictures, cr8tive_leo but I'm unsure as to what pads your drawing power from for the ubec? the image is to zoomed in to see.

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
"I use the 3.3v from the main board. No problems."
Are you using a full power dsm2 tx module? I'm not doubting you or anything, just wanting to make sure I've got this clear because I read somewhere that using the onboard 3.3v source could cause an overload or brownout.

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Wow thanks for the help everyone. I have a few more questions. If it's not good to get the 3.3v off of the mainboard then what's the best way? Also, where would be best to route the antenna wire from the 5e module where it would not be blocked but also not interfere with the main antenna coming out ...

Re: Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Excuse my ignorance here, but I've become rather excited at the possibility of using my 5e tx in the 9x. I thought there were only three connections that needed to be made: ppm, + and - . Opening my DX5e I discover that there's 12 different connectors soldered to the main pcb! :o What's up with that...

False switch warning
Every once in a while I'll turn on my TX and get the "switch is not off" warning but the thing is all the switches are in the UP position. After I get that random error I'll look at the display and verify that none of the switches are highlighted as being activated. Does anyone else have t...

Using a DSM2 Module from the Spektrum DX5 Radio
Okay well then my question is: I have a DX5e. Would it be possible to remove the tx module from that and use it in my 9x? And would I still be able to use the 5e as a tx for my simulator?

Re: DSM2 work
Yes. I have mine configured like this. There is a dirty way (like mine) and a clean way. Dirty way is to wire it all in and have both modules transmit at once. Clean way is to install a switch to allow you to choose a module. At a minimum this is a spdt switch to move the PPM stream from one module...

So is it possible to have a dsm2 tx along with a frsky in the same transmitter? That would be pretty awesome!
