Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Built it just like the blog, using a short wire in place of r2. You might want to try using the appropiate resistor instead, however this is just a blind guess. I selected dsm2-dsmx on my taranis and tried to bind, got nothing. Did you select the right mode in the second field? You want to choose [...

Re: SBUS Trainer input
An update from Wayne. He really wanted to use a pin in the module bay, so he can produce a "plug and play" module. I discovered that pin 2, which is for a "heartbeat" signal from the XJTs (internal and external), is wired up, but not used by the XJT. As luck would have it, it is...

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
This is going to be a quite delicate soldering job! To me it looks like you have not only ripped of the UFL connector itself but also the pads on the pcb (red): QTWb7A (1).jpg You can try to solder your antenna cable directly to the signal pad (yellow) and ground vias (green). To do this you would h...

Re: Program SBUS parameters wirelessly via Receiver
Once every servo is individually adressed the other parameters could be programmed with all servos connected to the receiver, maybe even in midflight. What's the point? Everything that can be programmed on the servo can be done on the radio too... I don't know, my most complicate plane uses only 5c...

Program SBUS parameters wirelessly via Receiver
Taking this idea one step further: Remote programming of SBUS parameters wirelessly via X-Series receivers. No need for any interfacing of SBUS devices to the transmitter, since the receiver is already interfaced to the servo via SBUS. Once every servo is individually adressed the other parameters c...

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I have not heard of the R2 issue in combination with Taranis yet, and my module is working fine with R2=1k in my Taranis. What kind of problems does R2 cause usually? No connection/communication with the module, or brownouts/dropouts midair?

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I thought RP-SMA connectors were easy to solder, but apparently the type of connector used for adapters or extension leads is crimped, making it virtually impossible to solder. The recommended UF-L to RP-SMA adapter cable seems to be the only option.

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
I just used a salvaged standard cheap push button switch with a ~3mm long shaft which fit the DM9 push rod well. This button does nothing though, in my design it is just a mount for the push rod. The led only indicates that JR module bay power is active and the voltage regulator is working. I don't ...

I thought about this, too. I don't want to spend the $65 + shipping + tax at the moment, but i might have a weak moment on a late evening browsing HK in the near future :D I DO NOT have any useful programming expertise, I'm just confident enough with Arduinos and MSP430s to run some basic sketches a...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods
Ok, the OrangeRX module handles DSM2 / DSMX internally, I can't help you with this. Regarding the HELI SETUP page you do not have to change anything for Blade's simple helis like the 120SR. All the mixing is done inside the heli itself. I'm not that good with helis yet and don't own any with collect...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods
What kind of module are you using? If it's DSMX and you try to bind it in DSMX mode to an older DSM2 120SR, this would probably give you a hard time. If you are using a DSMX module you can still bind it to the older 120SR in DSM2 mode: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/15709093/2014-02-16_22-23-50...

Re: Taranis and DSM2 mods
You propably have to change the channel order in your model memory. Spektrum uses Throttle, Aileron, Elevator and Rudder for channels 1, 2, 3 and 4, short TAER. The Taranis is set to a different channel order by default. There might be a better way, but for me changing the channel order in the mixer...

This would be super nice! :) Where did you order the pcbs? The purple soldermask looks like they were produced at OSH. Would you recommend them? Re: DSM module issues with range / lost link
Thanks for some input! I am going to test the module with the stock antenna that i removed from the DX4e, but the U-FL connector of the DM9 antenna looks good to me. If nothing works out i will have to hunt another DX4e on ebay... :D A new alternative popped up in this thread . I might be able to ge...

Very nice stuff indeed!! I was tempted to buy one of the Corona modules to cut some traces and to make a neat professional looking Spektrum module out of it. DSM module issues with range / lost link
I bought a used DX4e off ebay and put the DX5e tx module that comes with it into a replacement DM9 case for use in my Taranis. (http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=40&t=4868#p69466) The module will be used almost exclusively with Blade BNF helicopters and some OrangeRX R610/R615 and Le...

Re: Orange DSM Module Photos
I disassembled my orangeRX module since I do not plan on using it, now that I have put a DX5e module in a nice DM9 case. It did cost me a little bit more, maybe twice as much as the orangeRX module, however features like model match and the far superior antenna design of the DM9 case are well worth ...

nup, that wouldn't be that good, right? :D By 12 o'clock I mean the antenna sticking up in the air, perpendicular to the horizon, with the folding element bent 90°. I guess 12 o'clock was not the best way to describe the orientation of the antenna ;) A picture would've been better in the first place...

I don't have any iDevices and therefore no STi module, i can only refer to the information given by Horizon (http://www.horizonhobby.com/products/sti-telemetry-interface-SPMTR1000#t1) They write: "It’s a great way to keep tabs on your model if you’re flying with a DSM2®/DSMX® Spektrum or JR®/DS...

Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Yeah, the DM9 antenna is quite floppy indeed. Just not floppy enough to motivate me fixing it with some tape or sanding inside the case. Re: My Taranis Spektrum module
Thanks! I like the case very much, it looks quite slick, fits nice and the antenna design is great for use with the taranis in my opinion. You can still lay the tarianis flat on a table and the antenna does not get in the way when using the internal rf module and the Spektrum one parallel/alternativ...

Re: Spektrum sti module ?
The STi module does not care about your transmitter at all. It is an independent module that receives telemetry data from the receiver in your model. "STi™ (Spektrum™ Telemetry Interface) iTelemetry lets you transmit vital information from your model’s onboard Spektrum telemetry module to your ...
