Why do I get the feeling that the Horus and the Taranis Plus model lines are going to merge for Christmas 2014? Will it be called the Taranis Plus or will it be the Horus?

Re: ANOTHER failure to flash issue
In the middle of May I did send all the info and code for the bootloader to FrSky, so they may have installed it. Mike. I have no idea; but I've attached the OEM .bin which I saved before I flashed the TX, and which I reflashed to it several times as troubleshooting. Like you don't have enough to d...

Re: ANOTHER failure to flash issue
Okay, I'm confused here. On my Taranis, I just installled the latest Companion on my Win7/64 box (I think it was 2.0.7) and plugged in via USB. It installled the drivers, then Companion saw the TX. It took a few tries but I finally figured out my dumb mistakes like not noticing that it defaulted to ...

Re: Charging the 9XR pro battery
NOT delta-peak, that is for NiCd and NiMh! LiPos need a constant-current/constant-voltage charger that limits the maximum voltage. Mike. Actually, modern LiPo chargers DO monitor Delta-Peak of individual cells, but not voltage, rather current instead up to the limit voltage. This is spot a cell tha...

Re: FRSky XJT is On its Way to Me; Where is the Smart Dashbo
Dang, Mike. That's awesome. My Pro is tore apart on the bench right now, waiting for parts. I haven't had a chance to actually mess with the BT yet; I didn't realize we had progressed this far already, or that you had in mind to add all this other functionality. That sure sounds like a lot of work.....

Re: FRSky XJT is On its Way to Me; Where is the Smart Dashbo
In theory, since all the available telemetry data is stored in the Tx memory, I could pick it up from there and send it out over bluetooth (or COM2 or both) in hub format. As always it would need a little time to implement, but I might be able to grab some code from the openXsensor project. Would t...

Re: FRSky XJT is On its Way to Me; Where is the Smart Dashbo
I disagree; I like the touchscreen interface much better for handling Telemetry items, it is much more intuitive than anything on any of the open source platforms. And as I said above; my point of interest here is not to evangelize FRSky Dashboard, it is that I want to be able to do with the new Sma...

Re: Charging the 9XR pro battery
Ummm... yeah. LiPo batteries MUST be charged with a proper Delta-peak battery charger DESIGNED for LiPos to be charged safely. Multi-cell packs MUST be be balance-charged to be charged safely. Anything else is a recipe for a chemical fire that burns almost as hot as magnesium. This is NOT a matter o...

So this is an APP that runs on what? (Android devices?), and takes the raw telemetry data, over bluetooth, from the DJT/DHT (hub format therefore) and displays it? Mike. Yes, sir. There are two common ones; FRSLogger and FRSky Dashboard. FRSLogger is laid out specifically for the small screen; FRSk...

Does anything come up on the display at all now? Have you tried flashing it without the SD card installed? Without any module you may have installed? With a different USB cable in a different USB port and/or on a different PC? With the battery unplugged? I know, more obvious stuff. Trying to rule ou...

... for my 9XR Pro. I've been very happy with my old DHT-based module; but it went with my 9X so time to build a module for my Pro. Mike - Telemetry on the 9X: Duh, of course. That makes sense. [EDIT] Could set up a switch to move the connections between the PPM data and internal telemetry data if you connect at the SIPEX 3232 like I do though. Could do it internal if you have the DHT mod, or could build both into a DJT/XJT modu...

Poppy Ann - Just so viewers are aware, as your post isn't exactly very detailed... This mod is NOT the same as many others intended to port data inside the TX. It requires a different BT Module; specifically, one on a breakout board which is ported to RS-232 data. Search "RS-232 HC-06 Bluetooth...

That should be easy enough to implement as a JR module; just a 5VREG and a few filter caps on an HC-06 with breakout board. Other than that should literally be something we can plug in using breadboard jumpers.

A-whee-some! Can't wait! Will an HC-05 preconfigured as Slave, 9600,N,8,1 work with the existing firmware or do I need to wait until you release the new version? Does the current firmware NEED to program anything in terminal mode to work?

Okay so... I'm getting ready to do this mod myself and a few questions. First - for now at least, to use an HC-05 I have to program it to slave mode before I install it in the radio, correct? I disagree; and I have commercial electronics engineering experience. If that display had gotten past preproduction in my shop I'd have lost my job. And clearly I'm not the only one feels the LCD is substandard; otherwise this issue wouldn't be the cornerstone of the next major upgrade. I couldn't c...
