Companion Version 1.52 With Ubuntu 12.04 Not Starting

Replaced Companion 1.51 with 1.52. The install seemed to go well but it refused to start up as normal. Returned to 1.51 which is working fine.

This is with Ubuntu 12.04 32 Bit

Re: OpenTX 2923 but what has been changed?

It looks like we all will have to get ourselves a Taranus soon as opentx got too big for the 9x  Nahh.. It means that the 9X has matured and it is now a stable platform that offers much more than most mid and high range radio's that are on the market. Don't forget that in the wings is the ...

Re: Stick Switch for Taranis

I bet flaps30 will get a taranis now ;) Not until Frsky come out with a tray format transmitter. I like the modification and as Rob says. It would be nice to see this as a kit. Haven't yet got brave enough to try and remove the stick from the 9X gimbal so I can fit the switch assembly shown in my p...

Re: Stick Switch for Taranis

Sounds ideal for the thumb flyers here. Yes the joystick ends is an ideal place for switches. You could always do a side switch for those that insist on resting their thumbs on the top of the sticks. :) Still wondering if I can break out the old stick from my main 9X to fit the stick below...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

Ok, that means that the problem might have nothing to do with the radio being in trainer mode. Please test and check if it fails also with the radio in normal operation. I remember reading about a similar problem when the board was being developed, but I don't remember what the fix was.. And I thin...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight

But then I noticed another issue: whenever my radio is 'talking', the backlight switches off, and then resumes as soon as audio playback finishes. Strange... Looks like Atmega on the MegaSound board doesn't give sufficient power to VDD on the Smartieparts... Perhaps, the 10K resistor is too much in...

Re: Megasound9x board with Smartieparts REV2.1 EL Backlight

The way I did the modification was more about the ease of doing it physically rather than anything electronic. Personally I prefer using the 10K in series with the Atmega and the VDD in case something silly happens. The current levels involved in using a 10K (that is already there) is very low and t...

Re: Open RSSI Antenna Tracker

What about the decision when the plane is flying near the 360 change point? It might do the full rotating process continuously, right? There isn't a change point as such just sit down and fly your finger around the (180 degree vertical horizontal) array. The so called change point is dealt with by ...

Re: Open RSSI Antenna Tracker

It's okay JHSA. Your are a thumb flier so we can let you off this time. :P I lost you on that. if you fly in circles you need 360 degree?? Isn't tilt only track the signal for vertical angle while the pan tracks the horizontal signal strength? Draw a circle with the aerial (antenna) in the centre. T...

Re: Open RSSI Antenna Tracker

My servos do 180 degrees. But there is a 'gear' which ups it to 360 on the tracker unit. It is the 360 Degrees that makes no sense, as it isn't required. The tilt mechanism deals with reciprocals. Done some tuning since the video. It is reacting faster, and wobbling less now. Yes I saw the wobbling...

Re: Open RSSI Antenna Tracker

The snap back is because the servos in this unit do not do more than 360 degrees. I don't understand why you should need servos that have to do more than 180 Degrees. The last time I looked, it was possible to do pan and tilt with two 180 degree servos to cover the whole sky with large satellite ae...

Re: Search for Replacement 9x Potentiometers!

Hope it goes well Joe. I looked at the picture again and noticed that the hall device is on the end of the magnet and some way in. That might have been the cause of the lack of sensitivity, as the greatest force will be on the side of the magnet. Yes the final adjustments are a bit of a fiddle, but ...

Re: OpenTX Slow Up/Down in Mix

I find it rather surprising that you need 15 seconds to get to full flaps for landing. The last time I flew full size power, it took just on six seconds to get the flaps to the landing position, after reducing the airspeed to below the flap limiting speed. I am trying to time the down elevator to a ...

Nice work Joe. :) I tried the Ebay item number with the USA Ebay site and came up empty. :( Getting the right match between the magnet Gauss and Hall effect device sensitivity is key. It was many years back that I had seen and heard pulse jets in operation and flying. Plumpton was the location and it was a Dutch display team that did the business. Random thoughts on the pulse jet. How about using one to get a glider to a fair height? Better still. You could buy another and make a...

Sorry Kaos. That looks like some kids play toy, rather than something a serious modeller would use. The only format that makes sense is the tray format or some form of direct control from your brain. This is one example of what I'm talking about. http://www.jetimodel.com/files/photo/radio-dc-16-2.jpg

Hmmm.. Brand new still in the box.... Now that I find very interesting as to how something like the main board can be shown to be faulty without physically checking the TX.

On the other hand. You may have a working one or one that had the battery reversal trick done to it making it and ex working TX.

I'm trying to visualise what you are on about Rob. Do I take it that the servo feedback pot is on the turntable, instead of being in the normal place in the servo case?
