Re: er9x development

Thanks joa, maybe we should not start a new hub type for the openXvario/openXsensor, but think about a more generic solution to this problem. The problem i ran into with the oXv and the telemetry protocoll is not limited to my project. it is about the protocoll itself. why not start a discussion abo...

Advancement of the telemetry protocoll

Todays implementation of the frsky telemtry protocoll is limited to the data being transmitted of existing frsky sensors. With projects like the openXvario/openXsensor and hopefully more in the near future, we are evolving into a situation where the protocoll does not meet our requirements any more....

Re: openXvario development

Good job! Nice to see it working with the FLD-02 display. I wanted to test that for a while, but never had the time to actually do it, good to see its working. i would recomend of living with some noise. When flying i like it better to have a speedy and reactive climb rate output. 5s in the air is a...

openXvario and FRSky Dashboard for Android

Hi All, I Installed a bluetooth module into my 9x yesterday and tried out the FRSky Dashboard android app. A great app that can be used to display all the telemetry fields that the openXvario send out. It is fully configurable and has voice output. I recommend to check it out! As all the telemetry f...

Re: AW: Simple vario for er9x

What units are the Vspd in? I'm looking at that at present. FrSky seem to send cm/sec, to the nearest 50, on their new vario. I was going to change the display by dividing the FrSky value by 100 and displaying 1 decimal place. Same for the voice output. Mike. I use pure cm/s in the oXv. Gesendet vo...

Re: Simple vario for er9x

Nice! Welcome to the board! can you tell us a bit about the platform you are using? which sensor / micro-controller? Btw., is it possible that you re outputting m/s instead of cm/s ? or is this the way that er9x displays the data on screen? If you need help with the protocol or something like that j...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

could you (or somebody else with the new frsky vario) please try to take a video of the telemetry output on the tx? I'd be especially interested in A) sensor noise/stability for the climb Rate (place it stable on the desk for this one) B) Reaction to altitude change slow/fast (in hand is fine) i jus...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

It's still in the code for openXvario, but as i don't think a lot of people are actually using this function, so i haven't tested it in a while. ( https://code.google.com/p/openxvario/wiki/AnalogClimbRate ) How does the analog option appear to be more sensitive in the frsky vario? There probably no ...

i'm using a dental loupe when working on small electronis.. full steroscopic, nice light and not too expensive... They have a 3.5x magnification and can be adjusted in pupilar distance and angle. The viewing distance of mine is 42 cm. quite happy with them.. but don't ask for a picture of me wearing...

Re: openXvario development

Hi MacCross! Welcome on Board! If you want to use the oXv without openTx, the best method would be to start with the openXsensor code(still in development) and create a new version of the output module. you can then use oxs_msfrsky.cpp+.h as the template for the output module. But the whole openXsen...

Re: How to debug 9xVoice

Thanks for all the help guys. I rechecked the m128 & re-soldered it just in case, then checked it again. Things seem to be getting worse, though. The transmitter reboots almost instantaneously when I use the rudder or aileron trims (mode 2). Is that PD0,1,6,7? I'm getting close to opening up th...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

One more thing about the 0x3c. this is NOT an official FRSky telemetry id. Due to the way that openTX has implemented the telemetry protocoll, there are a couple of IDs that can be used to directly access other data that is not normaly accessible. It would probably be preferable to have a different ...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

0x3C is GPS Distance. In the oXv the content is configurable. Check the configuration section of the code for possible content.

Re: openXvario+C Current Sensor Support

Nice! Looks good. Will try it that way as well next time (remove coating...) i just soldered it directly to the pins, but was a bit difficult at first due to the smaller pin distance. Can i use the picture for the Wiki? in my opinion the missing capacitor on those modules is really a complete fail.....

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

I use a routine to read the VCC voltage of the arduino. This is the internal 5V voltage behind the onboard voltage regulator. This is the same voltage that gets supplied to the current sensor if it is connect as described in the oXv wiki. By measuring this voltage, the oXv knows how high the supply v...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

The algorythm already uses the VRef for calculation. i just don't know how it will influence the 0A Idle voltage and if the increments are different if the supply voltage drops to a lower voltage.
Anybody got some data for this?

i tested it a while ago... if i remember right i could go down to something around 3.5v before the arduino stopped working
The voltage drop on that regulator seems to be very low.

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

the easiest way right now to get the battery voltage is to connect the lipo voltage to the A1/A2 port of your receiver via a voltage divider. In the next version of the openXvario you will be able to use one of the free analog input ports for this as well.
