Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
Yes I am a bit lost sometimes too because there are several versions floating around the WWW and on different forums etc tweaked by this and that guy but when you open them up in the IDE you don't see a header file that tells you the date, version, revision history etc. I wish we had that. I can rec...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
Thanks for the help Michel I will investigate these options. My hardware is designed to send 4s voltages and current as well as RPM so if each is sent on one polling period at 22mS then the data rate for any one would be 7x22ms=154mS if I understand you correctly. If the TX can only process the tele...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I read somewhere else (GPS thread I think) that SPORT Rx polls the interface every 22mS but that if oXs is configured to respond to more than one address it could get polled as frequently as every 12mS is it correct? I'll explain why this is important. I am using this with a flybarless helicopter. T...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
For Dte Vspeed, oXs takes into account ppm values (if available) as wel for the sensitivity as wel for the compensation. The calculation is performed in following way: First the pressure from airspeed is multiplied by the compensation PPM parameter and some scaling factor in order to convert it in ...

Re: More than 6s lipo?
Did you know people are running 6s on theOxy 3 heli? That is not a big bird at all and some people count grams when building. In many cases you are right 6s and up is found on really big stuff but when you consider that for a given power, the current drops as you go to higher voltage so there can be...

Re: oXs glider performance measurement
You guys are one step away from being able to build a netto vario. If you can reliably measure the glider polar then oXs can compensate the vario not only for total energy but also for the natural sink rate at the given airspeed. Couple this with an accelerometer and even a super netto vario is poss...

More than 6s lipo?
Now that there are many people running large electric systems I was thinking about the limitation of having only 6 analog inputs on oXs. Two of the analog port pins are already taken for I2C with pressure sensors leaving only 6 analog inputs. If a current sensor is used then it means one can't deal ...

Re: Creating an RPM and Temp Sensor
If RF is a problem I would suggest you try to put the 100p (or so) in the location shown in this modified version. That will roll off frequencies above about 34KHz Edit: I rearranged the buffer so that it could work with external hall sensor as well. In my case I have only a TTL level output from es...

Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
Well we are off topic and I will bring it back at the end of this post , but I didn't even know you could do that. I thought ersky9x was just a version of opentx for the hardware on a sky board. You can load it onto a taranis? Back on the Jeti subject, I have been making my own hardware for oXs, I s...

Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
I'm sure you are right, I don't know what I am missing. I find it challenging to simply keep abreast of all the changes that happen just with Taranis and oXs. I put the 9x aside 'temporarily' when I got a taranis and haven't gotten back to it yet! I did upgrade the LCD display when I bought the sky ...

Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
I gather from what I have read that different people have different ideas about what they want to do with Jeti compatibility. Some folks want to use oXs as a sort of hub for jeti sensors so they can use jeti sensors with taranis. Others want to use oXs as a sensor that can send telemetry to a jeti r...

Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
How does one configure for jeti? I don't know anything about jeti but I am curious how to make an oXs for jeti radios. I don't see anything in the config.help about it either.

Re: Creating an RPM and Temp Sensor
If you succeed measuring RPM, please report. Also how you care for a voltage limitation on the Arduino input. Yes it works when I put the value as: DEFAULTFIELD , RPM , 10 , 7 , 0 , \ And set blades to 1 in Taranis it reads 4000 RPM for 2800 Hz on signal generator. To answer your question about inp...

Re: Creating an RPM and Temp Sensor
I have enabled RPM sensor on oXs v.5 and tested with a 5v TTL signal generator. I get good telemetry until ~20KHz and then the RPM display drops to zero. I want to use this together with a hobbywing ESC which has an RPM signal output derived from motor commutation pulses. The spec says it has a 17% ...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I added a multiplier of 100 in the data to send field and now I see some values in the PRANDTL_COMPENSATION telemetry field on Taranis. However these values change in a similar way as the dTE telemetry field and are influenced by changing the left slider ie when the PPM goes from 60-90 these numbers...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I tried modifying those two lines after 721 to:
oXs_OutFrsky.airSpeedData->compensation = compensatedClimbRate - oXs_MS5611.varioData.climbRate ;
oXs_OutFrsky.airSpeedData->compensationAvailable = true ;
so now the sensor at A4 is discovered but the value is always zero
oXs_OutFrsky.airSpeedData->compensation = compensatedClimbRate - oXs_MS5611.varioData.climbRate ;
oXs_OutFrsky.airSpeedData->compensationAvailable = true ;
so now the sensor at A4 is discovered but the value is always zero

Yeah I did not find that line at line 721 and I have been using oXs v2.5 I did find it at line 356 and added the two lines which compiled fine but I got still no detection of the sensor (A4) used for CMP. So I went back to page 3 of this thread and downloaded the file you posted "openxsensor_20...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I have done something similar but using curves. I have 3 curves each with 2 points. Curve 1 goes from 10 to 40 and curve 2 goes from -10 to -40 and curve 3 goes from 60 to 90. The mixer for Ch8 uses curve 1 and pot S1 when switch A is up. When switch A is middle curve 2 is used with pot S2 and when ...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
Initially I tried with sensitivity on accX and compensation on accY but when I didn't get the compensation I suspected it wasn't allowed on Acc so I tried using temp and then A3,A4. Wherever I put it, it doesn't show up in discover sensors.

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
Thanks Carbo, I understand what energy compensation is. I have nearly three decades of flying the full scale stuff, so I know how I like my vario to be adjusted and how like it to sound and react to the air. One thing is that vario sensitivity and vario compensation are two separate things and it wo...

Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I am not interested in using a tek probe so I don't need to have two GY63 boards and switch between vario1 and vario2. Re: New beta version of openXsensor (=openXvario)
I am finding the use of the PPM a little confusing. Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
Yes I eventually found it. I was searching in the I2C.cpp and I2C.h but didn't think to look right in the main ino file. I also didn't realize that the I2C address bits on the MS5611 are complementary logic so tying the CSB pins to vcc results in address 0x76 and tying to ground results in 0x77 in c...

Re: OpenXSensor project page on google code
