Re: openXsensor slimsize GPS Vario for DLG and F5J

So, am I right that to have a GPS rate at 5 or 10 , I have to use U-Center to modify BN-220 and adapt rate in openXsensor sketch? No, it's easier. You can simply change this line in oXs_config_advanced.h (see 9 - GPS): #define GPS_REFRESH_RATE 5 // rate at which GPS sent new data; select between 1,...

Re: openXsensor slimsize GPS Vario for DLG and F5J

In sketches from this thread MS5611 is enabled by default. In this case oXs will not find a GPS until the baro was found during startup. If you do not connect a MS5611 then this line in oXs_config_basic.h: #define FIRST_BARO_SENSOR_USE MS5611 // select between NO_BARO , MS5611, GY86 , BMP085 , BMP18...

Re: GPS only - troubles with latest version

255 is perfect, since it is 2.55 * 100
The ratio for factor 1 is:

Precision 0 --> 255 (Temp)
Precision 1 --> 25.5 (e.g. Current)
Precision 2 --> 2.55 (e.g. Acc)

Took me some years to find out :)

Re: Frsky updates

I want to add my last personal episode with FrSky. I'm testing my gear intensively, because I can not afford any mistakes where I fly. I've flashed v2 to have a first impression inhouse. I know what RSSI and frame loss I can expect. My first thought was, wow what a progress in link quality. At the s...

Re: Frsky updates

As the oldest looking in this forum I want to say, that a lot of people are very grateful, for the work some smart people are doing for the community. Without people like the OpenTX devs, Mike, mstrens, Pascal I would for sure not fly RC anymore. It is a lot of fun with you all! Keep going please.

Re: Frsky updates

RF-Interference as well as Fresnel-, Doubler-Effects can cause sudden frequency shifting, especially when tx and rx center frequencies are not well matched and the AFC (automatic frequncy correction/control) is running at the edge of its contoll range. A piper pilot ;) opened my eyes, to read and u...

Re: Lost alt setting for vario special function.

It will only show up when you have started a sensor search in the telemetry tab with connected and working sensor once. You shoud see Alt and Vspd from the vario then. For vario tones you want Vspd as source.

Re: Frsky updates

Another thing - I provided a link, where user, named udo tested and saw problem. And he says "The problem was detectable with any kind of TX/Rx combo"... Correct. But only on the table with high interference level and with certain RX models. I may be wrong, but when FrSky started with D16...

Re: Frsky updates

I believe the problem is with the new line of TX and RX probably used different hardware and different software. I would like to hear if somebody recorded the same problem with an TX with XJT module and an old X4R or X8R rx. I'm watching this issue closely from the beginning and have never seen thi...

Re: Frsky updates

I'm also sure the update is a trojan horse. But there are definitely lockouts and unwanted servo movements. You wrote, that TX out of tolerance can not cause this. If a CRC error can also not cause this, what else? Is it simply a firmware bug, like it was with X12 when it came out?

Re: Frsky updates

What is interesting for me is that not all RX or TX are affected make me believe that they used different firmware in the new product line of Tx/RX with D16/LBT protocol. I think, there is not enough data about affected RX or TX models to be sure, but it would be a good explanation for my problem, ...

Re: Frsky updates

My explanation of the lock out and servo deflection: https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost.php?p=43675945&postcount=204 . Very diplomatic. At least the lockout is now kind of official. FrSky and Engel are still talking about servo movements only Some may wonder, how the RX knows, where to ho...

If FrSky does not automatically tune RX, is this a possible cause for the watched lockouts, when TX frequency is out of tolerance? What do you think?

FWIW I've asked Pascal Langer (MPM) about the frequency tuning with FrSky. I think it is OK to publish his answer: "Re: FrSky frequency calibration The original frsky RXs don't do it. They might be tuned at manufacturing time once for all. The clone frsky RXs are doing exactly what you are sayi...

Re: Frsky updates

CC2500 X-tal frequency drift with temperature may happen(and happened with poor quality X-tals) and if happened it will worsen and the rx will not recover.The lockout is limited in time and rx recovered .I don't think the lockout is caused by a frequency drift. Eventually it was wrong wording, it i...

Re: Frsky updates

Here is another log from Juergen with a documented lockout with ACCST pre2.0. Eventually combined with an unintended roll command, if you look at the pilot's reaction with aileron (blue), but it may also be a coincidence. It took 8 months to find a pilot with an affected TX and the ability to build...

Well, agreed. But in what world users can have a choice if to have or not IP protection mechanisms? If a company is deciding to introduce one, for sure will not put it for users to vote. No company ever did that. I appreciate your balanced and open answer. One last remark: the IP protection comes i...

This whole D16 thing is not convenient for FrSky (in fact I cannot imagine how some may say that FrSky made it all up just to take opportunity to brake backward compatibility - it is like shoot the leg, to cover other pain), but I believe that FrSky customers deserve to be well informed.
