Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

Nice design. It would be better if you use a separate 5V regulator for the haptic motor. No, it can't be used for 9XR as it has a totally different power board  IMHO, Martin's design is the best suit for 9XR as he designed it for his 9XR. http://openrcforums.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=94...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

Are you talking about MegaSound or the stock 9x mainboard? On the MegaSound AVCC, AREF and VCC were all connected together. I now uncoupled AVCC and VCC, adding the choke and a cap (to GND). I also moved AREF to AVCC, but now I'm confused - should I keep it as is, or should I tie it to GND? Sorry a...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

Am I correct thinking AVCC and AREF should be connected together, as these are both analogue voltages? Since er9x firmware uses an internal analog voltage reference, AREF should be uncoupled from AVCC and tied down to GND via a 100nF capacitor to increase the noise immunity. Refer to 24.5.2 ADC Vol...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

If your board is dedicated to the serial interface, you don't need 'CLK' and 'BUSY' signal generator built around two transistors. If so, PC0 and PD2 can also be used for future use in addition to PD3, PD4, PD7, PB0 and PC1/2/3(=X1/2/3). It would be a good idea to put an LC filter(10uH+100nF) option...

Re: er9x development

Mike, thanks for the explanation. Sharing a serial line with a programmer, a voice card and a CPU appears to be tricky to manage. BTW, how bad was the buzzing sound? If we ever add any analog inputs in the future, data must be keep coming into 9x board. Can it be reduced by increasing the baudrate? ...

Re: er9x development

How do you do it with current MegaSound card without having rerouted trim switch? Boot loader is just a function that can be called from anytime anywhere depending on your implementation. When you're not using serial, you don't need the radio to be in bootloader mode.. Using the serial connection, ...

ooook, so how would you put the voice module in bootloader mode? João You can control it thru a serial port command from 9x firmware. We should actively promote people to learn "fine-soldering" skill to upgrade their CPU to 2561 :D I'm an old fart - if I can do it, anyone can :) I ordered several 2561's since it's on sale at Newark/Element14. http://www.newark.com/atmel/atmega2561-16aur/microcontroller-mcu-8-bit-atmega/d...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

That's what I'm doing as I don't have any extra serial connections on my voice card which is based on Martin's PCB design. You don't need much to be able to communicate with the PC. You use one diode from the m328 RX pin to pin28 of the radio processor, it can be soldered on the wire itself, and an...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

If you just want to flash the amod_lastSer.hex using USBASP, you need to remove the boot loader by setting the fuses by following command: avrdude -c usbasp -P usb -p m328p -B 100 -u -U lfuse:w:0xff:m -U hfuse:w:0xd1:m -U efuse:w:0x05:m And then flash amod_lastSer.hex by another avrdude command: avr...

Re: Audio (voice) - Stock 9X PCB

To handle the conversion of 2-pos to 3-pos switches needs some RAM to make it work 'properly'. Even the '128 is struggling for enough RAM space as it still only has 4K. It is likely I shall need to remove the "throttle trace" option from the '128 version to make things fit. The '2561 will...

Re: er9x development

IMHO, ALL the hardware related settings should go to eepe regardless of the processor types.
I don't see much benefit on menu-based hardware setting as it's used only once
right after altering the hardware and prone to operator error while playing with the menus.

You've already got 33% performance boost by using an Arduino with 16MHz crystal and this may be good enough for the future enhancement IF it really happens. Mike, It's an excellent idea to use PB7 for PPM/PXX for accurate waveform generation. If we need more processin...

Great Mike! I'll add an option for the trim switches rerouted to Atmega PC0/PC4 as soon as you release the source code.
