Re: FrSky new X9 Lite with a new Access protocol

The Vantac MPM by FrSky uses the “lite” interface and works well.

Re: ER9x and multiprotocol problems

This looks like a suitable thread to tack onto for help. I’m trying to troubleshoot a radio. The radio in question is a Turnigy 9x running ER9x r820, version V1.747-mike, date 30-11.2016. It has an iRangeX Plus module currently set to 0 and is using Proto Multi, Protocol DSM, Type DSM2-22, it is set...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

As I understand it, subtrims are not subject to Flight Mode. So you could transfer any FM0 trims to subtrim. But then the other FM trims would need to be reset.

I’ll have to think a bit about the implications of the new Instant Trim setup.

Definitely something for the manual

Re: Question on switches

Exclamation mark before switch name means “not”. So “!SA(up)” means either SA- or SA(down).

It’s not up so it must be either of the other two positions.

ERSKY9X Coding

Thinking a bit more, it seems to me now that the main risk is indeed that the pilot might forget (or just not know) that Instant Trim is live.

On the other hand, I still can’t imagine a realistic scenario in which more than 25% correction (subtrim) would be needed via IT.

As implemented now, pressing the switch again will not restore the original setting. If the sticks are centred, it will do nothing. The way Instant Trim works is for the pilot to hold the stick(s) off centre (so as to maintain level flight), press/flip the IT switch, and release the stick. This appl...

So what do you think about the 100% subtrim capability of Instant trim? Is it OK? Should it be restricted to 25% like trim?

I’m starting to think don’t fix if it ain’t broke.

Not sure how this got off track. I thought it was clear that what we talking about was how Instant Trim should be implemented. I don’t think either Mike or I could be seen as suggesting any change to Subtrim itself. Just to reiterate, I think the change to IT made by Mike in the latest version (appl...

Re: ERSKY9X Coding

I had never thought of Instant Trim as being a way to give huge amounts of correction, just a quick way to apply relatively modest ones — certainly less than 25%. That’s the way I’ve always used it, and my concern was that having the ability to use up to 100% subtrim introduced the possibility of in...

irange irx4plus channel order

Thanks Daedalus. I fully agree to your Bottom line. But two last questions: 1) If I change the channel order in the "Radio Setup", "Rx channel order", this has no effect on mapping the sticks to the receiver inputs. With this experience I ask myself what this parameter finally w...

irange irx4plus channel order

The module’s automatic translation of channel order from AETR to the Spektrum order of TAER is a major simplification for anyone who uses other protocols, as it means all protocols can use a standard order of AETR and the transmitter firmware can have that as its default order. On the other hand, if...

ERSkyTX on the new Taranis X9-Lite - first flights. Three flights on my Durafly Tundra with the new radio. I’m liking the feel of the radio - compact with very decent sticks. ERSKY9X Coding

Thank you Mike and Joao for getting me back on track. The X9-Lite appears to be unscathed by its encounter with reverse voltage. Here’s the story. Hi Mike Just received an FrSky X9 Lite. It looks and feels fine but does nothing when the button is pushed to turn it on (powered with six NiMH while I wait for 18650). Re: IDLE switch for winches

Just for information. The switch you are talking about has nothing to do with idle. It’s usually simply referred to as the “three-position switch”. The three positions are called ID0, ID1, ID2. Or when the switch is used to control Flight Mode they are called N, 1, 2. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Re: Onboard Glow Igniter With ATtiny85

Will rather use switching voltage regulator, as you do, just focus on 1.5V on its output with no manual calibration or adjusting to any particular plugs. It should work with all glow plugs currently on the market. :). All the modern plugs I know of are designed for 1.2v. I’m not saying they won’t t...

Onboard Glow Igniter With ATtiny85

Plugs are (or were) made specifically for 2.0v lead acid cells, 1.5v carbon-zinc cells (such as the big old #6 cells), and 1.2v NiCd (not in those days NiMH) cells. Most of the ones available today are designed for 1.2v. I would expect that running them on 1.5v constantly would shorten their life. B...

No, but it’s a really good idea to make a backup in case something goes wrong. I’ve never lost a model when upgrading.

Note that you will need to check each model if the update is from an old version.
