Re: Software advice

Oh, I think I see. Have you set the firmware type properly in companion9x? I think it knew automatically to use samba instead of avrdude one I selected the right firmware.

Re: Software advice

The ersky board requires Sam-Ba instead of avrdude. There's some info in the wiki about it. Several hoops to jump through, but not too difficult.

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

It seems that I'm placing a one-time order for wheels and pins next week sometime. Probably around Wed. The encoder wheels might be slightly more difficult to mail since they're thicker than the PCB's, but I'll figure it out. Looks like my blank boards will be arriving on Tues.

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

I got the supplies ordered for the boards. I should be able to ship out mid next week. Depends on when the blank boards arrive. I'm not going to make any money on these, so the price is pretty reasonable. PM me for PayPal info. (Unless pricing details are okay in this thread) Thanks! Dan P.S. I migh...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

Looks like I can fit 44 boards on a 12"x12" sheet that I found on Amazon. So, if there's enough demand to pay for the materials, I'll order the blank board and get started. It seems there's interest in 5 so far. I'd like to get to 10 before I start cutting. Maybe I should run the whole she...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

As for the pins, I sort of cheated. I took the whole double row of pins, and pushed one down so it fit into the hole in the board. The remaining pins rested on the board and kept it straight. After soldering, I pulled the plastic off that pin and did the next one. The depth was constant due to my pa...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

I got my board made up today. After setup, it took literally 1 minute on the CNC, (I have a Shopbot, and used a .032 cutter to cut the traces, outlines, and drill the holes in one step) so I would be willing to make a few for people, if it's alright with Iksbob. Of course somebody is gonna have to p...

Re: Sky9x Rotaty Encoder Option

I can't wait to see how you mount the posts and install this. I ordered my encoder/buttons from mouser today, and I exported the PCB layout from eagle so I can mill it on my CNC.

Any pictures of the type of posts etc that you'll be using? I want to have all my parts ready.

Thanks,
Dan

Re: eePe Announcements

I actually followed the instructions, checked out the code with svn, and compiled it myself. Worked like a charm. You need to get xcode (can be had for free) and install it first. I tried the same with companion9x, but some of the mac requirements weren't up to date, so no luck there. If you don't w...

Re: 6 channel dsm2 range issue

Keep in mind that the dx4e has a recall on it right now. Many of them have excessive lockouts in dsm2 mode (how is that different from any spektrum?). Of course I can't send mine in for free repair/update due to having gutted it.

So, check out your dx4e's before taking them apart.

Re: botched antenna mod, need new RF9x-v2

I didn't see it mentioned yet, but don't ever run 2.4ghz transmitters without an antenna attached. You're asking to burn something out if you do.

Trust me. Learned the hard way, then got scolded for it later to add insult to repair bill.

Re: New to Open9x with questions for erSky9x board

Thanks Bertrand. You do so much for all of us. The Rotary encoder is very accurate, but not fast. If I spin it too rapidly, nothing happens. When I have a long way to go, the potscroll seems convenient, then I would switch to the encoder once I got close. As for the timer, on basic er9x, you can sto...

Re: New to Open9x with questions for erSky9x board

Just thought of one more. When using dsm2, how do you put it into range check mode? It used to be switch C, but now the switches go all the way to W? (I suppose I could test this for myself, but I'm a bit lazy. )

Thanks!

Re: New to Open9x with questions for erSky9x board

Ooh. I noticed something else. When I turn the radio on it shows the splash screen, but the backlight doesn't come on until after the splash screen. Is that normal?

(I wanna see my custom screen in the dark...)

New to Open9x with questions for erSky9x board

Hi, I really like some of the things you can do with Open9x, but I'm stuck on a few simple things. When you start a count-up timer with THt as the trigger, how do you stop it again? I usually run a TH% countdown, and a continuous count-up on er9x. I don't want the count-up to stop at 0 throttle, but...

Repairing stripped Tx case screws?

Mine weren't cracked, but we're stripped out. I mixed some polyurethane glue with water, and when it started to foam I poked some down the holes with a toothpick and paper clip. I kept adding more until it began to foam over. I wiped off the excess many times. When the glue was solid I scraped off a...

Re: Where do unlisted options go?

Mike, Thanks for taking the time to respond. Sorry to be a pain. The option I mean, is the new second timer settings. I owe it to you guys to experiment with this on my own and report back. If the options are preserved, it should be a simple matter of updating my "generic" models, and usin...

Where do unlisted options go?

There are a lot of options in the latest firmware that eepe doesn't support yet. When I copy the EEPROM off the tx, is all the data stored, even though I can't edit it? If I do edit the model and send it back to the tx, are the unlisted settings still there, or are they blanked each time? Could any ...

Re: er9xr760

I just upgraded to r760. (I skipped r758 because of the splash screen problem) Slight problem with this version. With full length model names, the name goes off the end of the display, and partially wraps around. I have several models with 10 character names and they all exhibit this behaviour. The ...

Re: Outputs?

As long as we're going crazy with feature requests, I've got one. How about using some outputs to turn different modules on and off by model memory. ie. Model 1 - FrSky module, PPM Model 2 - Spektrum Module, DSM2 Power to the module would be automatic upon model selection. I wouldn't mind making a p...
