Re: Problem when connecting to PC

Don't you have a spare 9Xtreme though? From when I shipped that once via DHL because it seemed like the first was taking a long time, etc. Maybe I'm remembering wrong. If you have it, go ahead and swap it and see if the problem goes away or not. You'll at least narrow it down to the 9Xtreme vs. some...

Re: Upgrade 3 Position Switch Mod 9Xtreme

Ha! Good. That was a 1 in a thousand shot but figured I'd mention it, just in case. Honestly I'm not even sure what made me think of it. One of the first things I do with a new computer is turn off the hiding common file extensions "feature" as it threw me off more than once when that was ...

Re: Upgrade 3 Position Switch Mod 9Xtreme

Just a thought... but is it possible that you have file extensions hidden? When you normally look at text files in Windows Explorer, do you see "textfile.txt" or simply "textfile"? If extensions are hidden, and you force it to say "MODEL06.txt" then really the file is &...

Re: 9Xtreme stuck on "SHUTTING DOWN: EEPROM BUSY"

Can you clarify Mike, please. By "eeprom" do you mean the 9X's eeprom of the 9Xtreme's flash? ie. hardware problem where?

Re: 9Xtreme stuck on "SHUTTING DOWN: EEPROM BUSY"

From your description, yes... from the photo, I wouldn't say it looks unusual. But if you have a soldering iron and are confident enough in your skills that you can remelt the solder on there and get a better connection, you can certainly see if that resolves it.

Re: 9Xtreme stuck on "SHUTTING DOWN: EEPROM BUSY"

Yeah, I'm hoping Mike can tell if by "eeprom" we mean the 9X's eeprom or the 9Xtreme's flash memory. I'd assume the latter, but awaiting confirmation on when/why that error appears.

Re: 9Xtreme stuck on "SHUTTING DOWN: EEPROM BUSY"

Well... assuming its the 9Xtreme's flash throwing the error it could be a faulty flash chip or a faulty logic/buffer chip between it and the mcu. In that case, no... repair is unlikely. It more likely is a solder bridge (something I *really* have to address with better testing in the future). I coul...

It does seem odd. Hopefully Mike can think of a couple of tests and if we determine it is a hardware issue, I'll get that swapped out ASAP.

Either way, sorry for the headache.

Sorry about that. Thanks for ruling out the other potential problems and good job on resolving the defect yourself! I too do not recommend attempting that kind of a self-repair unless you have the equipment and skills to tackle it, which obviously you did. A defect is something I replace under warra...

Re: 9Xtreme vs Taranis

The 9Xtreme vs Taranis question is a common one. I never intended this product to be a "vs. Taranis", but the features are so similar and the fact the processor turned out to be identical make it a natural question. For someone who doesn't currently have either, I suspect it is a tough sel...

9XR or 9XR-Pro... my distaste for it isn't the equipment... its the naming. Pick something familiar... let's say the Apple iPhone. Let's say that Apple was crazy enough in the early days to allow Samsung to sell their product as the Samsung iPhone. Everyone knows they're the same device... whatever....

Re: Upgrade or whole new TX

Ok, well you should know that there's really no relation between the 9X and the 9XR. I'm still a bit miffed at HobbyKing for creating this confusion. Hobbyking is a division (or whatever) of a company called (something like) Hexatronics. HobbyKing sells a lot of products - most of which they do not ...

Re: Upgrade or whole new TX

I'm either confused on the question or you're confused on the concept. If you have a 9X already ("original V2 TX") and buy a new 9X ("just buying a complete 9X transmitter")... you then have two 9X's, right? That hasn't really gotten you anywhere. A 9X sold today is virtually ide...

I personally can't say I agree with that... I've never had a problem with the stock gimbals. Not even a slight issue. The fact FrSky offers replacements possibly suggests some are having issues (although that's a leap in logic, I'll admit.). Anecdotal evidence supports Bob though. Lots of people swi...

I would suggest the pre-crimped ones João linked to. Crimping your own can be an ordeal if you don't have the proper expensive tool to do the job. They are the correct JST PH series. Even the wire colours are the same! (That can't be a coincidence, can it?)

The LM386 is the most common (and cheapest) amp in use... it is also relatively old. I wanted something "better", but maybe I should have stuck with the old tried and true. It will be interesting to see if that works out better. I kind of doubt it though, because it seems we determined the...

It was my first attempt at specifying stickers :) When you get something made in China, its a common misunderstanding that China = Low quality... but that's not true. For that tiny chip I'd use hot air. Less cleanup. You should be able to heat up all pins simultaneously and just blow it right off. Just have to be careful with nearby components. Send me an email when you get a sec and confirm your address... I'll get you some practice boards :)
