Re: USB extender socket

No, you're right. I think most people probably wouldn't consider that too much of a burden since (hopefully) one isn't opening up the case more than a couple times. But for future, I think I will try to design it so it can be left plugged in while the two halves are laying open.

Re: OK, let's document this!

You know... I experienced the same thing but I assumed since nobody was complaining that I just didn't do a very good job of putting it on. Thanks for the feedback. I'll ask them to use a stronger adhesive next time.

Re: Alarms that change an RGB backlight's color

I suspect the limit comes with the understandable desire to code to a common denominator. If other ersky9x capable systems are limited on eeprom, I mean. Shame to waste potential, but I appreciate the efficiency.

Re: 9Xtreme Telemetry with OrangeRX

As it is the most popular, the system was certainly designed with FrSky in mind and for my part, that's all I used for development. I have absolutely no experience with Orange products at all. With that said, I imagine it *can* be supported. Hardware modification may be necessary and I imagine firmw...

Re: speaker hiss

The pick and place machines are pretty amazing. And you think these parts are small! I went nowhere near as small as I could have. I think the smallest piece I have on there is an 0402 resistor. The pick and place machine that was used can handle 0201 (1 quarter the size). You can barely see them th...

Re: speaker hiss

I could attempt to add a wire wrap wire jumper from the 10K to the cap going to the 120K. What happens, I wonder, if you solder a wire with a 10k resistor inline... one end to the "right" pad of the resistor you removed (the one closest to the chip) and the other end to C16? Basically phy...

Re: speaker hiss

What I did do next was to tack a wire to the close by ground pad, from the left side of the now vacant resistor pad, closest to the left side of the board, that goes to the audio IC input circuit. To my ear, all but a very very low data noise went away on the speaker! What does that tell us? At tha...

All caps that aren't marked on the schematic I provided you are 100nF. It is possible that doesn't always hold true, so I can verify when needed, but it is the case with those two you mentioned.

Re: speaker hiss

After reading a bunch more... I suspect part of the problem is related to my decision to use a Class D amp. It seems that they are inherently noisy. From the wording of the datasheets ("ultra low noise", "superior noise reduction", etc) I thought it was a feature of Class D to ha...

Here's another option for a 5V connection. (Andrew's is a perfectly fine option too... he just beat me and I didn't want to waste all my effort so I posted anyway lol)

Re: Under ER9x, AIL switch always zero

By the way, after this kind of mod, would turning on the radio while the USB is connected actually cause any damage? Thanks. It shouldn't . If everything is to spec, there would be no potential difference between the USB and the battery power (both would be 5V). But, of course, things aren't always...

Yes, there are plenty of places to take the +5v power from.

I actually just added this item to my FAQ on the product page, as I've now had a half-dozen people report it.

I'll grab some images and show you where else you can pull power from.

Hey... that also has me wondering. Is the hiss ONLY there when there's no voice output? I honestly can't hear the hiss unless I'm in a very quiet place (which has me concerned my hearing should be checked)... but even when I can hear it, it seems to "disappear" when a voice is spoken. My a...

I personally think that if we could get the amp to shut down when not in use, that would satisfy most people. My understanding is that people are annoyed with it hissing when it is NOT talking, right?

Re: Power output from 9x

Although, with some care you could wire it such that the raw battery was powering your monitor from that port. It would have nothing really to do with the 9Xtreme. But if the goal is one less battery... you should be able to achieve that.

As is? No. With some wiring cleverness of that connector? Still probably not, but it depends on the current demands of the monitor. I suspect it is far too high.

Re: Changement de carte mère surTGYX

Not that it really matters, but to be clear... the 9Xtreme doesn't flash the 9X with ERSky9X. ErSky9X resides on the 9Xtreme itself. The 9Xtreme flashes the 9X with a special slave firmware allowing the 9Xtreme to utilize the 9X's CPU for certain tasks. And yes, if the 9X's mainboard is replaced the...

I really doubt it would fit without modification. TT0002... no damage on the SP Basic *probably* means your assumption was incorrect and it didn't short anything. I couldn't really see how that would be possible anyway, but if it didn't even take any damage, then its almost certainly not the point of a short. Your brief description of the scenario ...

Actually, that is in the FAQ on the product page. You never mentioned Linux/Mac to me, that I recall, or I would have pointed you there. It is a known bug in Linux avrdude, and the solution is to downgrade from 6.x to 5.x
