Re: hk backlight mod
I looked at the bl and made measurements. 2 blue LEDs in parallel, R 470 Ohms. LiPo 8.03V gives about 11mA and 2.74V at LED level. It looks to me they're underpowered, assuming each LED can drive 20mA and reach the more nominal 3.4V level for a blue LED. Even under 12V , total current would be about...

Re: er9x development
Fine, how about splitting the difference, 510m (1673 ft) max alarm height, in steps of 2m (6.5ft) Mike. I use DHT-U as is, but I do not like the too big 10m step. I might not be concerned anytime soon by the 9xFrSky mods, but I may suggest, may I ? So steps of 2m up to 254m, and steps of 4m from 25...

Re: er9x development
Some diagrams to show what PPMSIM actually does. http://openrcforums.com/forum/download/file.php?id=741&t=1 Mike. Are the switches on the diagram the CMOS4066 you were talking in the other thread ? Why the fourth drawing shows no power on the module ? How is power controlled on the module ? Tha...

Re: hk backlight mod
Instead of a resistor, a 15-20mA constant current switching regulator would be neat
I'm OK to leave er9x control the backlight, but sometimes I'd like to turn it on permanently. That's why I want a parrallel switch with the n-fet.

Re: T9X mod to use Flysky module, Frysky module and DSMX mod
OK But... wait wait wait ! That PPMSIM software solving a hardware weakness, I don't get it. Maybe I need a basic shema that shows all the PPM paths from CPU to output ports, which one connects where, and when they're input or output. That migh be important to know for the guy who wants a 9x for sim...

So it has been discussed before. Sorry for not having seen it yet.
Thanks for clarification.

Re: T9X mod to use Flysky module, Frysky module and DSMX mod
The diode in this DSMx mod also appears to reduce the signal level. Is this correct? Will the combination of the 1k internal mod and the diode be too much attenuation of the signal? I'm wondering about the same. If we put in series the 4.7K resistor with the diode (DSM mod) and the 1K "resisto...

Re: 3.3V FOR HP6DSM
As seen in some wiki/thread pictures, it looks like the hobbyking's 3.3V is a good choice.
It's very popular, and ordering from a computer might be the most "local shop"

Re: hk backlight mod
Well, I understand the backlight is directly powered by the battery, not a regulated 5V. I found this picture in another thread, the "batt v+" looks like a good source, right ? http://i80.photobucket.com/albums/j163/cr8tive_leo/turnigy%209x%20mods/speakervibrationmood.jpg What about the sw...

Re: hk backlight mod
I like the idea of wiring the transistor directly without the backlight harness. Where do you get battery voltage and ground then ?
Also, is there a problem if I install a mechanical switch in parallel with the transistor ? (I believe it's OK)
Thanks

Re: Could we avoid to kill a module donor ?
I thought those modules where not available anymore ! Are they back ? That would be great, if they could be available for $50 without rx. So, Spektrum RF modules (like X1TXN) don't accept PPM as is ? OK, now I get it why so much trouble with er9x and DSM. Otherwise, without 9X neither a modular TX -...

Re: Could we avoid to kill a module donor ?
Model match, range check mode, lower latency. Plus who would want to drag around two transmitters? I agree and I'm convinced, but I'd like to understand. It looks like most DSM TXs (with training port) can be used as master in training configurations. Thus, indirectly, any non DSM transmitter could...

Re: Could we avoid to kill a module donor ?
Thanks for answers. And sorry because I was confused, it's not a DX5 I have but a HP6DSM. It seems the HP6DSM could also work as master after removing two inside cables going to the jack connector (for some reason, eflite didn't use a mono-jack 3.5mm for training with HP6DSM, but a 4 contact jack). ...

Could we avoid to kill a module donor ?
I'd like to try a DX5 with the 9X in a buddy master-slave setup, DX5 being master. I guess a simple 3.5mm mono-jack cord would be enough to link their trainer port. Wouldn't be enough to pull the DX5 trainer switch permanently to get DSM2 transmision but using 9X sticks ? (assuming the DX5 port rece...

Re: Minor (newby) issue
OK, thanks. I agree, tweaking values using pots might be usefull.
So, just a suggestion, disabling the pot scroll on the ANA setup screen only might make sense.
Talking about HK supermicro 2.4 stuff, is there a more suitable subforum to post/ask ?
Thanks again.

Minor (newby) issue
I loaded er9x r744 for the first time last week. Thanks all for sharing all those hacks, mods and tips for this great transmitter. I did the first and easiest mod: adding the HK LED backlight. Then I discovered I should have switched (+) and (-) face buttons, and corrected the HK backlight hardware ...

Re: My HK programmer addition
It's hard to plan ahead for newbies like me that don't even know all the mods that can/must be done.ShowMaster wrote:... remember to think and plan ahead like I should have and good luck.
Is there any overview for the most interesting mods to do at once ?
Thanks.
