Re: OpenXVario flight reports
You fly the wrong glider, or you fly it wrong. :p bored my ass. :) Both    As I said today was the first time I flew thermal.. It was ok.. Some get bored, some don't.. personal taste ;) But good that I started on gliders.. Cos now I was invited to fly the club's tow plane...

I promised Bertrand a DSM module for Taranis tests. But I can't be bothered to go to the post office. :-/

Re: Burning the Taranis Firmware under linux
Anyway about udev rules. I do not agree that companion changes them during install or at runtime. I hate programs modding system settings without explaining. Maybe we can supply a small standalone tool to install the rules, explaining what we are doing and for which reasons... (Once we will have un...

Re: Taranis - Lipo upgrade
I have the same buzzing on both my 9x's.. I have just done a test.. inserted a Jack in the trainer port to power the radio in trainer mode (main switch off) and no background noise at all.. If I power the RF module but turning the radio on with the switch, background noise returns.. So, the cause i...

Re: Burning the Taranis Firmware under linux
I suppose we can still expect that to happen again? I would rather have the migration in the radio. I have never seen the code which did that, but would you think it would be possible to have that same code running on the TX with Taranis? Would make things a lot more robust. Especially if you share ...

Oh well, that solves that problem.Kilrah wrote:Backup is disabled if the radio is a Taranis - not sure it has made it to release yet though.
Taranis will no longer need model memories to be merged after being upgraded?

Re: Burning the Taranis Firmware under linux
We should write a udev rule for that and add it to the linux build of c9x.Rob Thomson wrote:Agreed
Then reason I suggested the option is because most people don't have a clue how to setup udev.
Once one has build one that works.

Re: Burning the Taranis Firmware under linux
PS: Perhaps I should mention that somewhere else. But I thought I mention it. The c9x workflow of upfating firmware and backing up models before is broken. Because for one the radio has to be running and USB plugged in. And for the other the radio needs to be off. It will have to prompt the user to ...

Re: Burning the Taranis Firmware under linux
dfu-util uses libusb, which opens the USB devices raw. Most distros don't allow that to non root users. Running c9x as root works. Better would be to fix the permissions of the USB devices. Either by udev rule for that specific device, or I think some distros have a group names usb or so that has pe...

Re: orangeRX Open LRS x9 destruction
I suppose you tried powering it on without the module connected? Because if that module had damaged your radio, it will probably have done that by busting your power supply lines. As you can see in the diagram above, the module port gets supplied directly by the battery. If you have a short in there...

Where can I buy the bit to tighten switch nuts?
Where can I buy this two pronged bit to tighten those switch nuts?
Ideally a source from UK or EU. Or if I'd know how they are called, I would perhaps find them somewhere...
I tightened my switches on the Turnigy with pliers. I don't want to do that to my new radio.

Re: Taranis - Lipo upgrade
Well, any two cell battery that will physically fit is ok. Ideally a LiFePo4 of course. Most LiPo transmitter packs are 3S though. Rob, did you measure the dimensions of the battery bay? Thankfully FrSky used a two cell Balancing plug for the battery connector. That makes it really easy. Eneloop mig...

4 Axis mod (springy throttle)
Tarans has brilliant gimbals that can easily converted to enable or disable the throttle ratchet and return to centre spring. 4axis mod.png The same can obviously be used to change the radio to mode 1. PS: And in case you missed it, the same for the good old Turnigy. But it need a extra bit of hardw...

You don't need the voice mod. Just the audio mod. Naseby you take the buzzer and transistor out and wire in your headphone instead. Sounds reasonably good.

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter
You mean to disable the internal speaker altogether? No, I don't think you need to bother. In that case just wire your speaker outputs directly to the headphone jack. Above circuit just routes the sound to the speaker as long as no headphones are plugged in. (You can't of course use buzzer and headp...

Jhsa, I agree. Surely the rc flying hobby is not more dangerous than cycling. But blind actionism is unfortunately what politics generally lead too. Rc flying is not a particularly dangerous hobby. As for fpv, long range fpv is dumb. But that is not even what this whole thing is about. Those 'terror...

Re: Lua interpreter in openTx
Eventually certainly.
On the topic of storage. I see a need for those lua scripts to store configuration data. (Lua data structures can be serialized, kind of like json)
That will have to go on SD in some smart way add well, as I can't really see that fit in the well structured model memory blocks.

Bobosch, it would be possible but unlikely, non specific enough to justify the space used in the default build.
Code wins. Give out a shot
