Re: Lemon Telemetry with ErSky9x

You’re quite right. The LM0030 provides only altitude telemetry, not vario. The LM0052 provides both.

Re: I have searched and read and tried for 2 days to get the 9xr pro to work

The 9XR Pro was designed to use ErSky9x. It could at one time use OpenTX as well, but I believe the newer versions of OpenTX are no longer compatible.

ErSky9x will do the job.

9XR Pro not being detected in any simulator

Phoenix appears to have been discontinued since earlier in 2018. The last version was 5.5. Version 2.5 is several years old. As far as I know, the dongle works only with Phoenix. I have a dongle from version 1 and it still works with version 5. Edit: I’m referring to the Phoenix genuine dongle, not ...

Phoenix comes with a dongle for the trainer port that enables your transmitter to plug into the USB port. The dongle provides copy protection.

No dummy transmitter is supplied, though they did used to sell a package of Phoenix with a DX5e.

Version 2.0 and later, but I would suggest at least 2.1.19 for a good stable and advanced version. While you’re at it, why not go for 2.2?

Taranis X9D & DSMX hack

The DX4e units were all DSM2/DSMX. There may have been some early DX5e units that were DSM2 only, but from about 2011, with the advent of DSMX, the two transmitters shared the same 6-channel RF section with the DX6i. Since the DX5e is the transmitter supplied, until recently, with the RTF version of...

Re: Taranis X9D & DSMX hack

Which receiver? The Apprentice S originally had an E-Flite SAFE receiver but now uses an AR636. I do know that the E-Flite receiver did not work with the DM9. This was acknowledged by Spektrum. Does the modified DM9 you have use a DSM2 module from an early DX5e or a DSMX from a later one? It would n...

Re: FrSky Taranis Special Edition Low RSSI (Crash)

I have one of the very first batch of X9Ds sold in North America by Aloft in July 2013. Still going strong after more than five years. I’ve upgraded the sticks but never touched the electronics.

I’ve mostly used it with ErSky9x, though at the moment it’s on OpenTX as I experiment with version 2.2.

Where's the er9x wiki?

What specifically are you looking for? For most purposes, the manual should do everything you need. Since all the attention has shifted from ER9X to the more advanced transmitters using ErSky9X, the 2015 manual remains essentially up to date (I.e., actual [emoji3] ) (except, as João says, with respe...

Re: Lua script for automatic trims

Instant Trim works well and doesn’t require critical timing. It just requires you to hold the stick(s) so the models flies level and then throw the switch. It’s easiest with a fixed wing model flown in mode 2 because mainly you’re focused on the right stick. With other modes and types of model, the ...

More of an issue, I think, is that as a longtime instructor I wouldn’t trust the majority of students with the responsibility of relinquishing control when they get into trouble. I consider it mandatory to have the decision to take over squarely in the hands of the instructor. Even then, we don’t al...

Re: Who's got time for a noob? 9XR & 9XR Pro

The 9XR uses ER9X firmware, while the 9XR Pro has a more powerful processor and uses ErSky9x. The two systems are closely related and most of what applies to one works with the other, but they are not interchangeable. For a broad understanding of how the firmware works, download the ER9X manual: htt...

Re: Newcomer to Taranis and OpenTX. How do I set up Trainer?

As I recall, the DX6i has an inverted trainer signal. I don’t remember any details, but I do recall that it is also essential to use a mono (not stereo) trainer cable and that this transmitter has often been troublesome in the slave role. It can be made to work, but it is not standard. Sorry, that’s...

What Rx should I get?

The X7 internal module is identical to the external XJT. As for logical functions, you don’t need to learn everything at once. The only really essential thing for most people in the early stages is using Special Function Override to set throttle cut, and you seem to have that. By the way, it’s impor...

What Rx should I get?

It depends on what you’re trying to accomplish. Your current setup using a Spektrum module in a Taranis X7 is perfectly viable but limited to 6 channels and 1024 resolution. I’m guessing it’s a DSM2 module, so moving up to DSMX or FrSky would gain you a more robust protocol, which seems to be your m...

On all of mine “Lock” is write protect. It does not prevent the micro card from falling out, as can be tested by pulling on it.

Or do you have a new type of adapter?

I remember when we were on the beta test team for the 9XR Pro in early 2014. I was helping Muchy write the manual that explained how to install and upgrade ErSky9x using Zadig. It was hard. Then Mike developed the boot loader and the problems largely went away. Zadig was reduced to a last resort, to...

For those seeking to use the new capability of setting the Safety Switch override more precisely, there’s an important caveat: if you have a module using Multiprotocol, the pulse width value you need to set is 947uS (not the expected 980uS). The reason is that the Multi module squeezes down the puls...

This isn’t a policy issue. It’s up to the individual poster to choose a style and format appropriate to the purpose. Numbered lists are sometimes very helpful but often not required. Policing is not helpful.
