Re: Board layouts
I'll just wait until I got my radio and put one on a scanner. That should do the trick. If I can be bothered. Last radio I modded (for a friend) I did mostly dead bug style with leads flying everywhere. (Level shifter plus FrSky DIY module) But it became quite sensitive to RF. That's what I want to ...

Re: PXX protocol I'm confused
You remove the ppm conversion, making everything more locked in (to use spectrum marketing talk) That is certainly the case with Spektrum. But FrSky seems quite open with their specs. (No surprise since they don't have the whole stack under their control) I'm all for retiring PPM, it's a stupid pro...

Re: PXX protocol I'm confused
You can get the current beta PXX firmware, but it doesn't have any advantage at this point as there is no receiver support. It was only meant to test the communication between radio and module. Ah. That is some good advice. I just assumed that the over the air protocol was unchanged. I mean surely ...

Is there any market for used boards?

Board layouts
Hi, I'd like to do some hacks with the tx9. Mainly to add a internal Spektrum RF, but keeping the RF module slot operational. The ideal place would be to place those mods on the bottom PCB, the one over the RF module. I'm pondering the idea of re-manufacturing the whole board. There is enough wrong ...

PXX protocol I'm confused
Will FrSky modules some day support PXX out of the box? And is https://code.google.com/p/er9x/downloads/detail?name=PXX.zip&can=2&q= still the place to go to get the PXX firmware? I always thought this was a more or less official FrSky thing (though preview), but this does not look very offi...

Interesting. Would you care to share?sgofferj wrote: Besides, I found the (Chinese) manufacturer where Servocity gets it's 3D-gimbals from and they make pretty good prices - another thing that could be worth thinking about.

Re: Turnigy 9XR
Man what a shame, just weeks after I committed to buying a Sky9X board this thing gets announced. And the FrSky one as well. Feels like I'm betting on a dead horse now. :-/ But I don't want to chicken out of my Sky9X order, the guy needs some kind of reliability with his pre orders. And after all it...

Re: Multiple radio and protocols at the same time
The NXP 74LVC1G18 looks pretty cool for that purpose. one of two non inverting multiplexer. Up to TTL level.

Re: Multiple radio and protocols at the same time
I think the best idea would actually be to go with a external radio multiplexer circuit that can also power up and down the TX module. Triggered by a spare IO pin. This way the serial/pwm pin can still be used. (DSM and PXX are the future for me) The radio has well enough space to house a internal F...

Re: Multiple radio and protocols at the same time
Hm, the plot thickens. I guess I should have read the sources first. It looks like the model memory already has a field protocol. And that is being evaluated at runtime. I'm not fully grokking it yet. But that looks very much like that is already up and working. How is that used? What is the intenti...

Multiple radio and protocols at the same time
Is it plausible to have two RF modules (only one active at one time) I would like to have a Spektrum and a FrSky module in my Transmitter. Some models use one, some the other protocol. Of course I could just switch the PPM output with a physical switch. But frankly, I would like to use the right pro...

Re: The end of the DSM mod...
I suppose the channel count 14 proves that they actually refer to DSM as the wire protocol rather than just radio protocol. Is that right? Man, that would be so cool. I will still obsolete my dx5e with the tx9. So if the radio turns out to be c**p I can still salvage the RF module. But seriously, fo...

Does it understand the DSM protocol on the PPM input side of things?
