Most certainly NOT. Never short the +5V to ground, that is why I said remove the clips, they can easily short out the supply. To test the BL Steven said that pin +5v and VDD should be linked, but before that test I would recommend we 1st see the usbasp show up in Windows.

Post a picture of how you have in connected. no need for a new cable just yet.

And this was caused by RCG forum where you could not post the attached picture inline.... Well you could but not easily. Uploading the image in the forum is imho better than linking outside.

I think there is still a small problem with the .dmg file ....they are fairly big, 2,8Mb on disk. Upload runs to 100% but does not attach to the post. could be size limit. You can test with the file from my site. (link is in the eepe topic)
