IRangeX 4in1 Plus fw flashing.
That seems to have worked, I swear the videos never showed that selected but makes sense being the ftdi is usb. Great catch Mike. One down. I then via the usb connector tried to flash my ch config with TAER. Boot0 jumper off, Radio off. I did see a reference to dfu mode and com 15. Still with “uploa...

yes I have the boot0 jumper on. Will this help? The full error message (W7) I receive in red when I select bootloader is this; c:users\my computer\app data\local\arduino15\packages\multi 4in1\hardware\stm32F1 1.0.3\bootloaders\(bootloader file): No Such File or Directory "my computer" I ch...

Re: IRangeX 4in1 Plus fw flashing.
Thank thank you Mike for helping me sort this out. It’s difficult finding anyone to work on these projects locally, believe me I try that first. I seem to be the go to person and as we know, I struggle with it but learn a lot. I have no idea why it shouldn’t go as planned? I’ll take time and try aga...

IRangeX 4in1 Plus fw flashing.
I hope to in more detail, discuss how to flash a bootloader and new fw, as well as how to modify the code for changing channel order and any other defaults that may be required. The latest plus version 4in1 (stm32) supports ppm or serial ( serial allows menu control with ersky9x or opentx). It’s fw ...

Re: FAA Unmanned Aircraft Systems Registration 2015 (FAA Registrations are Voided)
Jan 2018 According to the AMA, the FAA has closed many loopholes and is reintroducing mandatory “drone” registration again. Talking to a commercial pilot, he says his union pilots magazine has articles on their concerns that were added to the new FAA registration requirement. Not knowing what to wor...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Mike, I posted in more detailed test on rcg of a IRangeX plus and the orange module with your fw upgrade. I used orange rx615x receivers. Interesting is I found that in a 9xd with otx2.2.1 multi fw, the IRangeX plus didn’t seem to go into the range test mode when it was selected. I got 300+ ft of te...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Mike, just to be clear, I haven’t updated my 9Xtreme ersky9x fw in some time. I’m planning on using one of the multi orange modules you’ve helped me with or a IRangeX 4 in one module. The one wire connection was done to allow a xjt module to be fully functional some time ago. I’ve added the protecti...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
I used the pro mini bootloader flash option on my green board. Using MikeB’s suggestion of holding to bind button, trim tabs out, when powering, and then trying a update multi flash with the green multi.bin, I got a flash failed. I found that if I did the update multi step again without any other ch...

I’m now told that the length could be 200ft for some of the gate runs from the computer station.
This will be interesting to deal with.

The frsky radio protocol is accst and will not support dsm2 or dsmx without a external dsm2/x module added. The HK orange module is one option but without the firmware updated, it won’t support/control some of the newer Spektrum umx stabilizing receivers/planes. MikeB has made available a diy firmwa...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Update. My friends HK v1.2 labeled orange green board module updated to MikeB’s multi fw, works great with my umx Pitts. In fact the rssi reported level was 31 and the lowest was 16. My older modules updated go as low as 6-8 but control is never lost. Interesting, but not alarming. Mike, the green b...

Orange Module running MULTI protocol
It would seem that adding the missing 100 ohm resistors R1 and R13 did work well. I forgot to mention that I see a telemetry value of 31 on the bench from my Pitts and this module. I didn’t want to just use a short but had no local source for the two smd size and value resistors. I remembered that S...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
I used option # 2 and success! Strange however is it showed failed the first time so I tried the invert and non invert option. What ever I did right, suddenly the last attempt, flash bar started to move and it was successful. I don’t think I was in the invert mode. A bind test to my umx Pitts with t...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Sadly setting com to yes didn’t work. Being this is my first green board ( and beta) that’s not working, is it still possible the resistors are the issue? I’m assuming but haven’t verified it, that the connection to module pin 5 is the programming path that the resistor R1 or 13 completes, unlike th...

Re: Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Mike, Is it possible R1 and R13 being 100 ohms is the issue? I see reading the first posts, you suggest a short or 10 ohms as a value. I believe we discussed in some post that 10 ohms would be a safer value than a short. My beta green board has 100 ohms also. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

Orange Module running MULTI protocol
Well Mike, I again need some guidance. This time on a green orange module. Being very very careful this time, but with a green board, I’m getting a multi green .hex failed error. My setup. First I added the missing R1 and R13 100 ohm resistors, 101. See pictures below. Using the same pro mini loaded...

Do you possibly have a pinout or them?
How would one use them, as a 2 pos sw closure, or 3 pos? Maybe with a pot?
Thanks

Orange Module running MULTI protocol
To be clear, you have assigned a switch to ch 5, in the input or for sure the mixer menu? Not having a receiver with a servo handy, this is what I did on the tx with otx2.2. On my Qx7 I Selected mixer and highlighted ch5 and selected it. It assigns that channel and took me to a setup menu for ch 5. ...

Re: Drone racing Power over ethernet, POE?
Is my math and thinking feasible? If 2ea 24ga wires are paralleled, I think it makes a 21ga wire. Resistance for 100ft would be 1.28ohms Doing this twice it would add up to 2.56 ohms. 7.68 voltage drop for 3A. The pie3 and all the electronics wants 5v. So using a 3-5A buck boost regulator set for 5v...

Re: Drone racing Power over ethernet, POE?
So using the 50w figure and 2 pairs broken out of the cable, feed with let’s say 50v, I could regulate it at the other end, down to 5v at 3A, 15w?
A buck regulator is 35v in max I’m looking at.

Re: Drone racing Power over ethernet, POE?
Yes, that’s what I’m finding. Ethernet over coax with the 18ga accessory pair may be the all in one cable option. Wishing and reality doesn’t always work out. Using 5A lipo packs and changing them every hour of on time seems the best option. Since a pie3 is managing data at each location, maybe adde...

Drone racing Power over ethernet, POE?
I’ve been asked to help with a drone racing wireless lap counting system. The detection is wireless as they pass the gates, but the resulting data and power is via cabling. Cat5 for data and hopefully dc power for the 5ea gate sensor packages. Each gate package will have a pie3, a nano, and 8ea 5.8g...

I’m not sure I would want 3w at 2.4g close to my face and eyes if the antenna is on the case? Quote from the Cisco Wireless Safety warning. Do not hold any component containing a radio such that the antenna is very close to or touching any exposed parts of the body, especially the face or eyes, whil...
