Re: Get the right FW revision to show in the sim. Help

r766 of er9x broke compatibility with the simulator, so until a solution is found r762 will stay in C9X.

open9x is more in sync, you'll get the latest revision that was released at the time of C9X compiling (C9X 0.88 went out on July 10th, with open9x r1100)

Re: botched antenna mod, need new RF9x-v2

AFAIK to range test you're supposed to hold and maintain the button on the module for all the duration of the test. That doesn't seem very documented though, that's all I found the other day after a rather long search.

It shouldn't matter much though. I took the 470 Ohm from the existing mod documents, apparently chose the wrong resistors, and well, it works perfectly, so... :D

There are some times, like this one, in which I wonder why to waste CPU cycles in antiviruses... :) I stopped wasting mine with them long ago, probably 3-4 years. Re: botched antenna mod, need new RF9x-v2

Depending on RF circuit design, an antenna output can look open or "short-circuited", that won't mean anything. A direct current short circuit can be perfectly open at radio frequencies. By the way one should never measure an antenna port with a continuity tester. In addition to giving no ...

but disconnecting the old one so that all the pads on the board will be in good condition may be difficult If you have to keep the chip intact it is indeed. However if you can ruin the chip (as is the case here) it's simple. Just run a sharp cutter along the edges of the chip, in order to cut all t...

Projects like this are about people giving their time for free to make something great. As that time is not unlimited, choices have to be made to use it wisely on features that most people will find a use for. So obviously compromises will have to be made. Is it worth spending a dozen of hours on so...

Re: Trex450se Turnigy9X and RX no throttle ?

You still haven't mentioned if you were using the original 9x firmware or if you have reflashed it. I think you need to go and read a heli setup tutorial (not necessarily involving a 9x) so that you have a general idea of the many mechanical and software adjustments that have to be made. I unfortuna...

Re: Difference between D8R-II plus and the D8R-XP ???

They're of use for multicopters, OSD's, autopilots and the like. CPPM = all servo channels on one pin, RSSI = receiver's radio signal level indication.

If you don't know what they are you probably don't need them ;)

OK. Then maybe the radio sends no PPM anymore and the RX won't bind properly without it - but I don't have experience with the stock module, so someone who knows it might be of more help.

Do you have access to an oscilloscope?

There is so much optimisation required to fit all the functionality that, well... if that function never gets called with negative values, then there's no need to ensure it works with them. And checking the value is positive at entry time would be a waste of memory too. Maybe a comment saying "...

Re: Turnigy 9x binding problem ( stock firmware)

Binding is something that is only between the transmitter module and the receiver, the radio firmware plays no role at all in that matter. So if you can't get them to bind, there might be something wrong with the TX module. Do you have control of the servos after a successful bind?

If you for example did a short, or wired something wrong even temporarily it could have fried the processor's input ports causing unpredictable mess... 2s lipo, 3s life, 3s lipo will all work perfectly well. Just that the extra energy your 3s lipo holds vs a 2s one will be useless (lost in heat). No risk of damage though.

I want to have the ER9X firmware and the DSM2 mod. I don't need the original protocol. As long as I can use 8 channels, I am okay. How much do you want to do it? The popular DSM mod using the modules from cheap transmitters (DX4/DX5) only supports 6 channels. For 8 you'll have to go with the DM9 Sp...
