Re: Sv: "resolved -impossible to identify radio on your syst
As you already know there are actually two USB interfaces used. When the radio is turned off, you can connect using a driver and a program called from Companion (called Dfu-util). This makes it possible to load new software to the transmitter. This USB interface requires a driver that is in no way s...

Re: Sv: Compiler error at companion from next at github
These are the first lines of text at the top of the wiki page with Linux build instructions for Companion : "Please note that there are build dependencies from OpenTX Companion to the OpenTX firmware. This means that the complete OpenTX code base, not just the Companion part, must be available....

Re: OpenTX - Nightly builds for pre-2.0 testing
It is for all radios. This far the only difference is that airbrakes and flaps end up on different switches (naturally)

Re: OpenTX - Nightly builds for pre-2.0 testing
I just recreated what I think you have seen. The flaps are controlled by the SA switch. Two entries for each channel. One for SA up and one for SA down. One should result in +100 and the other - 100 . With SA in the middle position the channel will get the value 0. The idea being to be able to use t...

That sounds interesting. I will have a go at reproducing the problem in the wizard.

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
That is strange. I thought I fixed that problem yesterday. It should be in the build. I will check. There is some kind of bug in the bug fix :-) Originally only RETA as channel order used to work. Now RETA and ATER (which I used for testing) works. I thought that this meant that all combinations wo...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
4Apr v1.99 Wizzard. I use TREA and the wizzard work great for all but two things (IMHO.)_ for 2Ail servo and 2 Flap servo, Ail were on put on Ch. 4 and 5. Good Flaps were put on Ch6 and 8. Why not 6 and 7 ? and Flap Sw is set to SwA. Is there a logical reason for it to be Sw A? .....my prefernece h...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Just downloaded April 4 CompanionTX. The Wizard is looking better all the time. I found one issue however. In General Edit I have Channel Order (for Templates) set to TAER The wizard follows that order - however after applied the mixer does not follow the wizard. 4-3-2014 8-12-56 PM.png 4-3-2014 8-...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Tested with April 3 build. In companion9x, when creating a new model (plane) with the wizard: - drop lists to select channels for aileron (and flaps +airbrakes ) should best be active only if the plane has aileron (and flaps +airbrakes) ; currently, it is possible to say e.g. that there is no ailer...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Using the Tx simulator which is from the tab in the model setup window I'm getting misbehavior. First of all as you can see in the attachment the backlight does not function. Second of all the Sticky command does not function. I was going crazy trying to figure out the sticky command -- but it turn...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
In companion9x 1.99, there is a wizard to create a new model. It seems me that the assignments between inputs and channels are not (always) logical. See attachment. I think that companion9x take care of the values set in "chanel order" (defined in the window "general settings")....

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Martin Hotar made the nice Wizard graphics. He also made the very nice default icon theme for Companion 2. I think that the cartoon style graphics brings a friendly and inviting feeling. My thought was that it is simple to set up a second, third or fourth servo once the first has been set up for you...

Re: Sv: Help firmware ex9 use LCD nokia 5110
No.
No one is going to spend several weeks on adapting the firmware to an even smaller display than the 9x has originally. It is neither interesting nor fun.

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Based on the feedback this far Bertrand has put the Curve Wizard back into 2.0 and I just completed the Model Wizard. An incomplete Model Wizard was committed to next yesterday and the finished version should be available in tomorrow's nightly build.
Re: Sv: 9X vs 9XR
As to soldering irons: You need a decent soldering station in this hobby. By now you have seen first hand why. The secret lies in the soldering tips and heat dissipation. The cheap stations have bad tips and cool off as soon as you put solder to them. They are extremely hard to use, while the better...

Re: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Found that choosing simulation colors in preferences does not change simulation color when simulation is chosen from EEPE window. The setting works for the 9x. I guess that you were simulating Taranis. Since Taranis comes with only one background color (blue), the setting has no effect. The setting...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
Yes, the bootloader is a separate part of the firmware. Once a firmware version with a bootloader has been installed, the bootloader can be used to flash new firmware files stored on the radio SD card. This means that the user only has to be able to copy files to the radio using the built in memory ...

Re: Sv: OpenTX - Nightly builds for FrSky Taranis
I think it's better to release a completed 2.0 rather than a mostly done 2.0 with missing features released in 2.1 I think we all agree, but there is a limited amount of develoment time available and some of the new features, like Mikes bootloader, are huge and very necessary improvements that need...

Re: Sv: Strange message when powering up
It is a good idea to have a contact available for easier flashing and to connect to the PC, but it is not necessary. Some people left the contact inside the radio and opened it up each time they wanted to flash new firmware. Another option is to have a small contact in the battery compartment. There...

Re: Sv: Strange message when powering up
That narrows down the alternatives. If the solution is to load new firmware you need to get hold of a cheap USBASP adapter and solder a contact to the main board of the radio. The solder job is very easy, but if you do not want to do it yourself you might know someone who knows how to solder. Then y...

Re: Sv: Th9 and Taranis on one computer
I agree that it is a bit hard to understand exactly what switching profiles in companion9x does. There are also a couple of issues regarding which settings depend on the profile and which are global. Some parts of the code sees it one way while other parts take the opposite standpoint. The issue wit...

Re: Strange message when powering up
I am afraid that the advice you can get on this board about 9x radios with original firmware is very limited. The reason is that the board is focused around the open source firmwares that replace the original firmware. Most of us have simply never used the FlySky firmware except to check that radios...

Different than what? I did kill the Taranis with the latest OpenTX version of the bootloader. Luckily it wasn't permanently dead and future versions will not have the problem.

Re: Just killed my Taranis using the bootloader
I'm curious as to why the look of the bootloader needs "improving"? It was intended to just provide a simple method of selecting a file on the SD card and flashing it. It has been being used very successfully on the 9XR-PRO Beta units as originally written. Mike. The "improvements&qu...

Re: Just killed my Taranis using the bootloader
Does this mean that a new version of boot loader needs to be written to tx? Only if you have used the bootloader from the two latest nightly builds. On closer examination it turned out that the problem was caused by myself, not the bug André fixed. I just fixed it and the fix will be in the next ni...

Re: Sv: Just killed my Taranis using the bootloader
I managed to get out of the deadlock by removing the Taranis battery and flashing an older firmware version. With the battery in place it would not flash. In the meantime Kilrah found and fixed a bug in the boot loader with misaligned start vectors that was the root of the problem. So there is nothi...

Re: Sv: Just killed my Taranis using the bootloader
Yes, I tried disconnecting the battery for a couple of minutes. Makes no difference.
I also suspect some kind of hardware issue. I am hoping for something simple like a bad solder joint or loose cable.

Just killed my Taranis using the bootloader
Yesterday I was working on some suggestions for for improving the looks of the bootloader. I switched between flashing the Taranis with updated bin files and using the boot loader itself for flashing the Taranis. After a successful bootloader flash (they are always successful), I turned the radio of...
