Re: PXX work

More detailed S-Bus description (still in German though ;) ), very easy. 100kbps 8E2 UART comms, one start byte, 16 11-bit channels concatenated to form 22 bytes, one byte with flags, one stop-byte. There's also the info how to set the servo's channel number. http://www.flightronic.com/index.php?pag...

Re: Help deciding best way to do telemetry mods

Yes, they're upgrades that replace the old ones... For example my module/receiver pair I ordered 2 months ago came with a D8RII, and the latest one I received 2 weeks ago now came with a D8R-II Plus.

Re: Help deciding best way to do telemetry mods

Yep in the D8** it's only the D8RII Plus that can read the battery voltage directly. The others need the voltage sensor.

Re: Bugs in Open9x?

Because if we do 2 separate screens, there's enough space to put 4 parameters in big writing on the "inflight" one so that they are easy to read, and alt/speed/distance leave space for a 4th one... Course is not absolutely required, but might be useful for FPV. Even better would be a kind of home ar...

I will try to find the time to write up something this weekend... but the photos and my post on the other forum should already be self-explanatory to replicate the setup :) The thing is, I wanted to "finish" my mod cleanly with the firmware upgrade possible before writing a detailed guide, but I'm a...

Maybe the current GPS screen with the 4 GPS parameters that are provided by the Hub and are useful in flight, in big writing: Speed, Alt, Distance, Course. Then a second screen with lat/lon and speed/alt/distance max values that would typically be looked at after landing (or crashing?). I don't thin...

Cool! Relative altitude is already there! Press [MENU] in this screen will reset Telemetry Data. Hmm on the main Hub screen yes, pressing MENU resets the baro altitude... however on the GPS screen, MENU resets home position/distance/max speed, but does not zero the GPS altitude from what I can see. ...

There's some info there:

IMO they probably have interest in S-Bus as it's the only "digital" protocol for which there are servos out there today, would be a great selling point for them, "use your S-Bus system with a receiver that's 10 times cheaper"... ?

It's the old module without telemetry that he's installing. The mainboard mods are only required for telemetry reception.

Maybe just use the receiver-side decoder, and replace the encoder by a software addition to ER9X?

Re-flashed got the "ALERT Bad EEprom Data" screen and same result in that buttons have no effect. Re-flashed what? There are 2 types of memories, Flash and EEPROM. Flash holds the transmitter's firmware, the EEPROM holds the model data and radio settings. When you program the firmware (er9x.hex) yo...

Flashing done... All good, but I just don't understand the "3POS". How do you use that? How can you get 3 output values out of a 2-position switch? To me it just looks to be the same as MAX..., when activated with a switch gives out WEIGHT, when not returns 0... EDIT: Ooh, the 3-position switch. Oka...

how do i know if besides the throttle problem i also have too much throw (theres never too much for me lol  ) Pretty easy, set your throws to 100%, hold the airplane upside down so you see the aileron servos, move the aileron stick slowly while watching the servo - if the servo hits the end or...

Re: Having trouble with my beast 3d throttle input pls advic

I think there's quite a bit of weirdness with Spektrum... On my Sbach and Extra 300 3D (both UMX series), with a genuine Spektrum module on my Futaba radio, all throws were perfect, however I had some issues sometimes, the servos would jitter in sequence every few seconds. I had to cycle the power t...

Re: Having trouble with my beast 3d throttle input pls advic

OK, interesting. If you can program the ESC to the TX or with a wider range, then do this rather than reducing throws, you'll have better precision. I'd still not touch the trim at though, just leave it centered unless really needed.

Re: Having trouble with my beast 3d throttle input pls advic

OK, good about the other channels. I have watched your video. With the trim centered and throttle throws at 100%, I need to have the stick close to the middle for the motor to start (if you look at the graduations on the 9X's stick, it's just one below center), which matches your situation. With 65%...

Re: Having trouble with my beast 3d throttle input pls advic

There's no ESC calibration on these models (as they're only inteneded to be used with original Spektrum radios, no variation is expected). ER9X however seems to send way bigger throws than the stock Spektrum TXs.

I fly a Sbach 342 UMX, and had to set my limit settings to 65% both ways on CH1-4. Try powering up your plane, starting the motor once to arm the AS3X, then move the other channels slowly one at a time observing the servos. If the Beast behaves the same (very likely), they should actually reach thei...
