Re: GPS sensor

I've been looking but I can't really find any info on getting yaw rate from the sensor, I'm sure it's possible though, but still I think working it out from the yaw we have already may work well enough. I flew yesterday morning in calm conditions with the yaw rate calculated in tx and it is definite...

Re: GPS sensor

Second option would definitely be better, I don't know the calculation, sorry..I can Google it later if it helps,
I wonder though if there might be problems again with centigugal forces with that?

If first option is easier and could be calcuted and sent maybe 5 times a second it might be enough..

Re: GPS sensor

Braved the winds in a break from the rain and tested it out, its incredibly NOISY and Jumping around due to slow data and lack of of any filtering but it seemed to work, I could fly a circle continuously and the angle was shown correctly and exiting the circle seemed OK. I think it might work with t...

Re: GPS sensor

flying some more today and its becoming obvious that the roll angles could be a LOT better, I find I am using the heading to establish if plane is flying level or turning, Ive just altered the script to calculate yaw rate from yaw data and fed this into the roll calculation, its a bit jerky but work...

Re: GPS sensor

I flew the other day and everything was fine, no loss of temetry at all. I dont know if filtering is really needed on the levels, the taranis display showed them working well enough. Main advantage is the fast vario tones but I will use the GPS for waypoint racing later on. I've built another now an...

Re: GPS sensor

Thanks , I will have another look next time I fly, won't be for a few days looking at forcast... I think more the problem is that the levels are not exactly correct, they are definitely useable though as I proved last time I flew I could return to base with just the tx screen! Dont know if it can be...

Sorry but I cant get t1 or t2 to work, on hub i get t1 but no values on it, on s.port i tried discover new sensor but nothing appeared?
Good news is so far sensor has not stopped working!

Re: GPS sensor

great thanks, I just tested quickly and it all works on both hub and s.port, not sure if opentx will ever fix the discrepency between hub and s.port on the acc values because other projects have already taken this discrepency into account and kilrah says he would like to fix it but would need all th...

Re: GPS sensor

Yes I think so , yes it would much easier to be able to assign them as yaw pitch and roll, would that be possible?
Should I just wait till its done and then try it?
Also the difference between s.port ACC values and hub values I have to remember how to do it, but I have that written down.

Re: GPS sensor

Mstrens I thought only did things like that lol! I must be sending my confusion over to you, sorry about that!! Would you try the 3 acc values as that is what I will be using. I presume I can still have all the yaw pitch and roll sent to ACC values like before or was that just a test version? Still ...

Re: GPS sensor

i think i have ruled out the arduino by building another sensor with a known good arduino which has been running standard vario altimeter fine and this still went wrong. OK, did you try to run arduino + GY-86 without the gps, does the data loss still happen? Carbo did you use the version of openxse...

Re: GPS sensor

I'll wait and see if you get any loss of data and if you don't I will try your version, mine has been running again now for another hour without going wrong even covered and installed in the fuse..... Just makes no sense as to when it decides to go wrong... Maybe I fixed it heating it up with hair ...

Re: GPS sensor

Thanks for buidloing so you can test too! Re: GPS sensor

One thought I had was the levels between sensor and RX, I have it connected directly and it has always been OK, mikeb informed me that the rxs are all 5v tolerant , I don't think this can be the issue but thought it worth a mention. I could put a 5k6 resistor in line just to see if it made a differe...

Update on testing Fault still exists with new better bec and both openxsesnor that I built, I tried a frsky vario in the RX just in case it was a bad RX and ran for over an hour and a half no problems. I am running on the d8r hub protocol again with sensor wrapped up to try to get it warm this seems...

Re: GPS sensor

If it's a bug its a very strange one! I suspect it will turn out to the something like noise on 5v line but I will keep testing , its been running now for another 30 mins, it stopped working for a short while and then started again by itself and has been solid since.. Moving servos has no effect thi...

Re: GPS sensor

Right, sensor starts first time now!
Testing now to see if it stays working over time, hopefully this is it!
Must have just not been enough voltage for 328 to work properly.
Thanks and I will let you know how it goes once I've tested it for a while!

Re: GPS sensor

Just checked and it wired 5v to raw but that same connection is direct to GPS and gy86, On the sensor which works first time it 5v to raw but vcc is supplying the GPS and the other sensor. I will just link the raw to vcc then and see what happens, maybe the pro mini reg is not providing enough volts...

Re: GPS sensor

I noticed something, when I use nano sensor the altidue works first time , when I use the pro mini the altitude gets stuck at zero and needs power cycling to get it to work.but this is only true of s.port connection?!?!l The nano has a better regulator so maybe this is a sign of insufficient power w...

Re: GPS sensor

I wondered the same, but it seems not to be related now to GPS after a few tests .. I took rx apart and found one side of earth connection not soldered so I soldered that and tested again , it still went wrong just sitting on floor with wing fixed on. I just built another sensor today with an arduin...

Re: GPS sensor

Tested this mornjng by leaving it outside to get a gps lock and then bringing it back indoors to lose the lock and all other sensors worked still, repeated a this just to check and still all sensors worked. Maybe I just just a have a bad arduino or something, but still no amount of taping around loo...
