OpenXsensor Configurator

Hi, A little subject about an OXS config file generator utility, developed (still not really) in the processing environment. It's just a start, there is nothing more to show than this image: OXS_conf_01.jpg But, I think it's doable ! (how much time it will take, that is another story :mrgreen: ) Sta...

I don't think it's a problem, even if not used, and I've a GPS which I'd like to use with OXS as we have a serial connexion available ;)
What do you think ?

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

@mstrens, we've got 240 bytes possible every 200ms yes, I wrote too fast... I am not sure that the Rx can follow because if the max rate = 1200 baud => 120 bytes/sec = 29 bytes per frame (when the frames contains all data and are generated every 200ms). So we are above the specification. but I think...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

With vario defined, I've got nothing on the TX, no vario, no voltage. What you see is the debug print, not the real output. It's not a problem of too much data, we've got 240 bytes possible every 200ms and as I said, when I tried to log the output, nothing was sent, something blocks the output. It w...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

@mstrens,

I've just tried with your config and the voltages are working, so the problem comes from the vario part of the code.

Re: Minimalist oXs on a ATTiny

I'm on a little project of making a smaller OXS with vario, 1 temp and 2 voltages on the same board.
As we use it now, there's many things we don't need (reset switch...) or which are redundant (voltage regulator...).
It's aimed at my future DLG usage, so will be 3.3v.

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

Yes, I read that, but FrSky don't shine by their doc quality... And as it can have up to 12 cells to transmit, it means also up to 2.4s between new voltage values. Perhaps a little too long, but OXS only supports 6, so 1.2s seems acceptable ;)

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

I do not know if we can thrust FTDI for this. FTDI can introduce some fuffering too. I think we need a digital analyser to check the delay between each frame. Yes, a logic analyzer will do the job but, according to the datasheet, the FTDI chip is supporting up to 3Mbaud so I don't think it misses a...

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

@mstrens,

Just look at my OXS log above (taken from the actual pin 4 output, not the debug monitor) and you'll see that frames are not always sent every 200ms, there's gaps of 400 and 500ms.

Re: Introduction to the openx vario/altimeter

@Mike,

With only vario defined and original oxs code (215), Frame1 was sent every ~200ms, no problem (apart the fact that it was set to 100 in the code...).

Bad timing is for with vario + voltages + cells, as in my log above.
