Re: Frustrated user looking for help

Lol... now I hope he doesn't come here. If there's a definition of "off-topic" I think we may have found it!

Re: Frustrated user looking for help

That's what I told him.... all he really needs to do is seek guidance. I was trying to help him over the phone but he had to go suddenly. I'm out of town for a few days so I thought it best to direct him here. Hopefully he shows up and you guys put him on the path! If he doesn't post, then my appolo...

Frustrated user looking for help

HI. A gentleman who has attempted to update his radio to er9x and fears he has "bricked" his radio is seeking assistance. He's indicated he's perhaps not the most computer savy, so I'm posting this thread and then I'm going to link him here so he knows exactly where to go to get help. I don't have t...

Re: Quick question... uart speed

A bit, thanks. I'm still confused. What info is sent if there's no sensors or anything?.

The Frsky site is down at the moment. From what I recall, it was horrible English anyway and I couldn't be confident in what I was reading.

Re: Quick question... uart speed

I think I figured out how we can do it without the 2 lines at all. I'm limited to 400Kbps but that should be more than enough. Baud is instructions per second and there can be several bits in an instruction depending on the modulation. I can't imagine it being so high its going to come even close to...

Re: Quick question... uart speed

ok, would that be 9600 baud or 9600bps?

Let me put it another way... can I be confident that the data is flowing at something slower than 400kbps?

Does anyone know what the data rate is for the FRSky mod? Thanks.

then I'm confused... didn't you just agree with Mike that the caps are necessary for limiting EMI?

Re: Menu button delay - deliberate coding? Or I did somethin

found this paper on the subject: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/szza009/szza009.pdf

Section 2.2.5 in particular. If I understood it (which is a leap), its about reigning in noise from the microprocessor itself. Right?

Interesting stuff! (and at the same time... so extremely boring)

What "high frequencies" though?

Clicking a simple tactile switch produces "high frequencies"?

Learn something new every day :)

Re: Menu button delay - deliberate coding? Or I did somethin

The schematics aren't very telling. I guess it is debouncing, but obviously its not doing much. Do you software debounce? Mike - I suppose you could be right... but I can't see how slowing down a i/o signal every-so-slightly would make a lick of difference for RF. Still, perhaps its a "best practice...

Re: Menu button delay - deliberate coding? Or I did somethin

Figured so. So... what's that capacitor do? lol. The mucking around I did resulted in the SMT cap that's below the SCK/menu pin coming off its pad. So I removed it entirely and the only effect I thought I noticed was a less responsive menu button (that you've now confirmed is by design). What are th...

Menu button delay - deliberate coding? Or I did something?

I was messing around with the switch circuitry today. I never noticed before that the Menu button isn't as responsive as the others... is it just that I didn't notice? Or did I mess something up? I suspect its how its programmed, but I thought I'd ask. When I first power up the radio and it gives me...

Sorry I've been absent!

I've been really busy and basically on holidays (until tomorrow). I have a lot of catching up to do still, but eventually I expect to get busy on this forum with a bunch of Q&A.

Re: WTF kind of bug is that!? Anyone else having this issue?

I'm thinking that chat function - while cool - is far too problematic to bother with if its kicking people off the page they're on. I mean SERIOUSLY annoying when you've spent half an hour typing and suddenly you lose it forever. Its happened to me on both Chrome and IE. I hate FF so please don't co...

Re: Before you go too far down the road...

Yeah, sure... but with phpbb you have to keep on it a lot more. Like I said, with my Simple Machines installs I basically have been able to forget about them. And its not just spam - you leave a phpbb install get a little behind on the security updates and it does get "hacked" (as in, db compromised...

I suppose... I never saw a chat. But if that's the case, then it not only grabbed focus, but also took me somewhere I was at rather than where I was at the moment!

Page jumping while in the middle of typing? Its happened to me twice now. Both times while I was in the middle of typing a long post, suddenly the page jumps like i hit the back button a few times or clicked a random link. I can't even really describe what happened. Suggestion: No "general" or "off topic" areas

I just posted this over at RCG (in response to the post immediately preceding). So I'm formally making that suggestion here. Let's leave general 9x discussion to RCG, as well as off topic banter and general rc chat. That's the purpose of RCG, and the purpose of 9xforums is a more in-depth, better o...

Re: Before you go too far down the road...

I fully agree. I kinda thought this was just being used as a test site while kinks were being worked out, so my suggestion was just meant as a "before you put in too much work customizing phpbb". I've administered both... hands down, I prefer Simple Machines. Phpbb requires constant attention to kee...

Programmers - Smartie board section. Rename. Moderator

Hi.

PROGRAMMERS section has a sub-section called "Smartie Programmer".

Can I suggest first of all that it be called "SmartieParts Programmer" as using the proper name probably helps avoid confusion... and also perhaps that I be appointed to moderate it.
